The Actuarial team is an integral part of the decision-making process at Lyft with its important mission of accurately predicting and accounting for risk to make the platform safer. Lyft’s Actuarial team is looking for a strong Actuarial Analyst to join our Actuarial Data & Reporting team.

The Data & Reporting team’s core responsibilities revolve around ensuring risk-related financial data provided to FP&A, Accounting, and Actuarial is complete, accurate, and appropriate. The ideal candidate should have solid insurance and actuarial knowledge, data management skills, and strong communication skills as the person in this position will be communicating internally with Actuarial, Accounting, FP&A, Data Engineering and other teams, as well as external partners such as third-party carriers. Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing robust ETL pipelines and maintaining complete and accurate actuarial data for analysis.
  • Design and build data monitoring dashboards to drive data insights
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on modeling / reserving / pricing projects
  • Contribute to the process changes to promote prompt and accurate data to cross-functional teams
  • Support the financial reporting process by providing key actuarial inputs and analysis 
  • Support competitive analysis by researching financial statements, insurance company filing (e.g. schedule P) and other industry papers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Take ownership of the tasks assigned and drive insightful analysis
Experience:
  • Bachelor or equivalent degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Economics, or similar 
  • At least 3 CAS exams is required 
  • 1-2 years of relevant internships, or entry-level experience in P&C actuarial field (flexible scheduling during exam preparation and continuing education support for FCAS; we want to be part of your career development!) 
  • Personal or commercial auto insurance experience required 
  • Very Strong SQL; experience with ETL and R/Python and an interest in coding/automation is preferred 
  • Experience or knowledge in reserving or predictive modeling is a plus 
  • Experience with competitive analysis / financial statement analysis a plus
  • Great communication and presentation skills 
  • Strong organization and time management skills

Starting in September 2023, this role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.

The expected range of pay for this position in the US is $117,000 - $130,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
