Actuarial Analyst
Job Description
Section 1: Position Summary
Prepare data for and perform actuarial calculations related to the annual funding, accounting, and compliance requirements for defined benefit pension plans.
Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Reconcile census and financial data utilized in preparing accounting and funding valuation reports
- Draft routine deliverables, including contribution requirements, accounting costs, benefit calculations, government forms and other standardized reports
- Update assumptions and provisions in third-party software for use in annual valuations
- Interpret valuation results and provide initial recommendations
- Develop and maintain expertise on design and plan administration of assigned clients
- Develop and maintain client relationships, serve as trusted advisor and technical expert
- Communicate with client, participate in client meetings, present results, and discuss recommendations
- Continue to pursue actuarial credentials by completing the required exams, educational experiences, modules and seminar

Section 3: Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements
- Bachelor degree in math, actuarial science, or other related field
- Proven ability to pass actuarial exams
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize, manage tasks and meet deadlines in connection with business operations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft, particularly Excel applications
- Ability to cooperate and coordinate tasks with coworkers and clients
- Prior experience as an analyst supporting pension plan valuations and/or actuarial consulting teams preferred
- Experience with ProVal, exposure to public sector/church plans preferred
