Actuarial Analyst III (hybrid/remote opportunity)
Job Description
Summary: This position is responsible, with minimal guidance, for collecting and analyzing data and enhancing actuarial skills. Effectively managing time and continuing to enhance work quality while beginning to interface with the business. Could consider Actuarial Analyst II, Actuarial Analyst III or Actuarial Analyst IV based on relevant experience. This will support our Commercial Lines teams.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Independently complete projects that are outside normal run work.
- Demonstrates mastery of run activities and may lead efforts and/or train others as needed.
- Independently extract data and apply appropriate actuarial methods and techniques to different situations to solve problems and provide meaningful insight.
- Leads customer facing discussions and represents the department in various settings.
- Offer insights to improve the accuracy, stability, and timeliness of core actuarial processes.
- Demonstrate effective time management.
- Demonstrate mastery of insurance concepts and terminology.
- Demonstrate mastery of internal data and tools.
- Expand insurance and/or actuarial knowledge through some combination of exams, industry periodicals, self-study etc.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Reserving
- Independence and mastery of reserving methods so appropriate method(s) and selections are consistently utilized.
- Independently perform reserve appraisals on complex lines and coverages.
- Complete independence and mastery of reserve booking process and produce accurate monthly results for financials.
- With minimal guidance, gain the knowledge required of run projects not performed on a quarterly basis.
Pricing
- Lead all aspects of the rate review and product maintenance process. Contemplates modeled expectations and market data to recommend changes. Proactively offers insights and recommends appropriate action during rate review process.
- With general guidance, leverages knowledge of pricing best practices to produce analyses leading to improvements in the rate level indications.
What You'll Bring To The Company:
College degree with significant course work in a quantitative field such as math, statistics; or actuarial science experience is required. Proficiency with personal computers and knowledge of spreadsheets and other applications required. Three years of relevant work experience strongly preferred.
