Actuarial Analyst - MSI
Job Description
Actuarial Analysts work closely with Managing Actuaries or Product Leaders to prepare pricing analyses, develop actuarial models, and apply mathematical and statistical techniques to analyze profitability on a state basis. They collaborate with Product Managers on new products and market entry and provide support during the rate and rule revision process by preparing filings and coordinating responses to regulator questions. Their goal is to help the company achieve its profit and growth targets by improving product performance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and complete pricing analyses, including the development of rates, ultimate loss projections and communication of results
Support development and updating of Actuarial models and databases through formula development, research on methodologies, and collaboration on technical teams
Apply mathematical and statistical techniques to analyze profitability on a state basis, and work with other Actuaries and Product Managers to make recommendations on what actions can be taken to improve product performance
Work closely with Product Managers to support introduction of new products, enhancements to existing products, and/or entry into new markets to reach company profit and growth targets including post implementation analysis of new product and product updates
Collaborate with business partners throughout the organization on the rate and rule revision process, including confirming scope and timelines, preparing filings to be submitted to state insurance departments, coordinating responses to regulator questions, and implementing final revision changes
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Ability to learn any other appropriate program or software system used by the firm as necessary
Well organized with a high level of accuracy and a strong attention to detail
Desire to solve problems and think analytically
Self-motivated with a can-do attitude
Ability to work as a team player to deliver results effectively and efficiently to a variety of customers
Strong technical actuarial skills and strong knowledge and understanding of rating models.
Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to influence and negotiate with others and create acceptance for proposals.
Skilled in linking multiple data sources to organize data into a logical format for analysis.
Demonstrates the organization’s core values, exuding behavior that is aligned with the firm’s culture
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Membership in the Casualty Actuarial Society as an Associate (ACAS) or Fellow (FCAS).
1-3 years relevant experience required
Property & Casualty Insurance License or be willing to obtain any state required license preferred.
Knowledge of SQL, SAS, R, Python, Table, and/or other programming/data query/reporting knowledge preferred
Starting Salary - $85,000
