In joining the Optum Advisory Services team: you'll be part of a team that is leader in health care cost analytics, with a proven track record of supporting health plans across the country though a diverse staff of Actuaries, Data/Research Analysts, and Business/Technology Consultants. Our consulting team has continued to expand capabilities and consulting presence by identifying, developing, and executing on new and exciting business opportunities.

As an Actuarial Consultant, you will be empowered, supported, and encouraged to use your actuarial expertise as you perform financial analysis and build models that improve health plan competitiveness. Primary Responsibilities:
Our Optum Consulting Medicare Resource Group (MRG) is seeking an experienced consultant to assist in the development of innovative and efficient actuarial and analytical models in support of client needs around the Medicare Advantage and Part D HCC Risk Adjustment Models. Key skills for success include strong SAS and/or Excel VBA knowledge, ability to manipulate large data sets, data analysis, modeling, effective communication of findings, problem-solving, and team leadership. The position offers the opportunity to proactively develop software tools and data analysis models in a fast moving and dynamic team environment.
- Examine existing models and code sets for errors and inefficiencies
- Provide innovative support for the appropriate configuration and manipulation of large data sets in a standardized data repository environment
- Establish code in support of MRG (actuarial) staff
- Provide clear communication regarding both identified problems and potential solutions
- Take accountability for work within a fast paced, exciting environment

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 1+ years of experience working in SAS
- 1+ years of experience working in a consultancy, actuarial or healthcare field
- Expertise working with formulas, calculations, charts, graphs, VBA in MS Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Passed 2 or more Actuarial exams
- 1+ years of experience working in either R, SQL, Python, Tableau, PowerBI, VBA, predictive modeling, .net
- Experience and/or exposure in Medicare Advantage Risk Adjustment data
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, including written and verbal forms of communication
- Proven flexibility to handle changing priorities/requirements/deadlines
California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Washington residents is $67,800 to $133,100 per year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
