Actuarial Consulting Director - Pricing (Warranty)

Leads and directs the actuarial activities of the Warranty Consumer & Commercial Products business unit. The individual is accountable for the establishment of pricing strategy as well as the continual refinement of our pricing models, profitability reviews, trend & other analyses, and adherence to actuarial standards. The individual reports directly to the VP and will work closely with an Actuarial Senior Consultant.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
Collaborates with and influences senior leadership in the development and implementation of pricing strategy for Consumer Electronics, Cell Phone, Furniture, Home, Commercial Equipment, Vehicle & Alternative Risk products.
Complete profitability reviews, collateral reviews, profit sharing & other calculations according to annual schedule. Analyses feature detailed segmentation of results as necessary to fully inform management regarding performance of the business. Reports business progress to senior management, makes recommendations as required, and presents results to external business partners as appropriate.
Collaborates with internal business partners to ensure optimal implementation of business strategies; facilitates communication and provides guidance to Underwriting regarding the pricing and structure of new and existing business and works with others (e.g., Operations, Reserving, Finance) on actuarial issues.
Participates with senior leadership in the development and implementation of actuarial policies, business strategies and goals, regularly evaluating performance against goals, and holding self and team accountable for achieving desired results.
Remains current on state issues and regulations, industry activity and trends. May represent the company in industry trade groups.
May act as expert witness and may represent the company with government agencies.
Oversees the preparation and accuracy and approves all financial reports and statements, as well as, budgets and forecasts.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

1. Senior level knowledge of actuarial principles, practices and procedures and industry issues as they relate to the organization.

9. Demonstrates the knowledge and understanding of when and how to use metrics to make informed business decisions.
10. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software systems, including processing systems and applications.
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's Degree, Masters preferred, in a relevant discipline or equivalent.
2. Typically a minimum of 10 years of related work experience
3. Typically has attained their Fellowship accreditation (FCAS).

For NYC Job Applicants: The base annual salary range for this position is
$132,000.00 - $165,000.00
The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
