BASIC FUNCTION

The Actuarial Intern is responsible for general technical work, including data preparation for pension valuations. The Actuarial Intern is also responsible for assisting with the day-to-day activity for assigned clients and other projects. Requires a strong work ethic, strong initiative, and ability to work independently. This is a summer internship.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in preparation of recurring actuarial valuation and compliance work for qualified retirement plans of assigned clients, including:

  • Actuarial funding valuations (corporate or public)
  • Accounting valuations
  • Government forms preparation

  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of materials for clients.
  • Provide analysis and assistance on special projects.
  • Provide input to actuary and/or consultant on appropriate steps to complete required work.
  • Work with the consultant to understand how his or her work fits into the overall project.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree (rising Juniors or Seniors (rising or graduating)) in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance.
  • No prior work experience required.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • No actuarial exams required.
  • Must be motivated with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Pursuing actuarial exams with goal of becoming an EA, ASA.
  • Strong team player.

COMPENSATION

This position is paid hourly. The person/people hired for this role will be required to work in-person in the Dallas office on a weekly basis, but flexible work arrangements will be discussed.
