Actuarial Technician

Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing expert product advice/support in the process of executing new products or any enhancements to existing products.  This position is responsible for maintaining a thorough understanding of life and annuity products, business platforms, and providing ongoing support of retail projects and initiatives.  Responsibilities are inclusive of product training, development of product supporting checking tools and administrative system verification to ensure product integrity is achieved.

This position will be part of the Retail Product - Implementation Team.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure that new products or any enhancements are correctly supported and supporting tools provided in order to implement on administrative and illustration systems properly
• Assist in developing checking tools, calculators and models used to support products/riders
• Assist in developing contract summaries
• Collaborate with the team to stay on top of changes in requirements and during projects and issue resolution
• Support plan setup and test plans
• Assist in the drafting and testing efforts for products and product features
• Assist in drafting and reviewing contracts and riders
• Assist in the support or creation of competitive analysis tools/reports
• Maintain accurate documentation and correct processes
• Conduct peer reviews of product/feature checking tools
• Assist senior actuarial tech as a subject matter expert in actuarial concepts
• Help support the marketing team with accurate tools/graphs needed for collateral material/ad review
• Assist in the validation of test results and error resolution
• Assist in the validation of SOX audit controls
• Help troubleshoot production incidents/remediation support
• Participate in researching and responding to policyholder questions/concerns
• Assist the team in calculations for features not supported systematically (PHS)
• Provide support for automated and ad hoc reports

Experience and Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required – Preferred in Mathematics, Actuarial Science or related technical field
• Strong technical, analytical, organizational, computer, and team skills
• Experience in the financial services industry preferred
• Able to perform in a fast-paced production environment while addressing multiple projects and responsibilities at once

Skills and Abilities

• Familiarity with Insurance administration systems, compensation systems and producer web sites
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
• Proficient with database structures and tables, spreadsheet applications and working knowledge of Visual Basic or related applications.
• Experience working directly with third party vendor programmers and actuaries to correctly implement and test products
• Must be extremely detail-oriented, analytical and be able to handle multiple projects
• Team player with demonstrated ability to proactively identify issues and to influence key project decisions to achieve desired outcomes
• Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and is able to operate efficiently in unpredictable and challenging project environments
• Ability to work independently on projects showcasing autonomy
• Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills
• Familiarity with CRM tools

• Some travel may be required (less than 10%)
