The Minneapolis Health and Life practice is composed of healthcare and long-term care insurance professionals who provide our clients with industry-leading consulting services. The Department/Team
The Minneapolis Health and Life practice has a strong team of actuaries, analysts, data scientists, and other professionals. We are committed to doing innovative and high-quality work. We use large data sets in new ways to fulfill Milliman's mission: To serve our clients to protect the health and financial well-being of people everywhere.
We have worked for insurance companies, healthcare providers, startup companies, large employers, and many other clients, both in the US and abroad.

Role
Responsibilities for this role may include:
- Providing guidance, supervision, and mentorship for more junior staff;
- Creating reports and other client communications;
- Presenting results to clients and answering technical and business questions;
- Working creatively to deliver innovative solutions to clients;
- Building relationships with key client contacts;
- Working collaboratively on practice marketing efforts;
- Delegating work to meet client needs;
- Executing business development initiatives; and
- Working with practice leadership to identify areas of opportunity and innovative ways we can serve new and existing clients.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics or a related field
- At least 7 years as a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
- At least 5 years of experience preparing Medicare Advantage bids, including at least 3 years certifying them
- At least 10 years of experience in a healthcare role involving actuarial work, with at least 5 years in a consulting firm
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects and tasks within deadlines
- Ability to present complex technical information to a variety of audiences, including executive leadership
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and database applications
- Self-motivated, creative, and resourceful
Desired:
- Experience with other common health actuarial projects: reserving, pricing and filing rates for group and individual health insurance products, etc.
- Experience applying SAS, R, Python, or other programming languages to analyze healthcare data
- Sharp critical thinking skills, sound judgment and decision-making ability, and both the ability and willingness to clearly articulate your ideas
- An inherent sense of the value of collaboration
- The ability to work both collaboratively and independently
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment where the client is always first
Location
This position is based out of the Milliman office in Minneapolis.
