The Actuary, Analytics/Forecasting analyzes and forecasts financial, economic, and other data to provide accurate and timely information for strategic and operational decisions. Establishes metrics, provides data analyses, and works directly to support business intelligence. Evaluates industry, economic, financial, and market trends to forecast the organization's short, medium and long-term financial and competitive position. The Actuary, Analytics/Forecasting works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.
Responsibilities
This Actuary within Part D Strategic Analytics team will combine elements of strategy, organizational ability, technical ability, and analytical skills to provide insights to business leaders to help shape Humana's Strategy. This Actuary will be responsible for analyzing impacts due to regulatory and legislative changes in Medicare Part D such as Inflation Reduction Act, Pharmacy DIR to Point-of-Sale, and other future proposed changes or demos to reduce prescription drug costs for Medicare beneficiaries and will include the following.
The individual must be able to drive and manage multiple high-priority items simultaneously. The Actuary will maintain strong relationships, interact, influence, collaborate, and communicate with numerous stake-holders and partners in a matrixed organization, including Compliance, the Chief Medicare Actuary, Product Development, Corporate Finance, Corporate Affairs, Formulary, Trade team, Pharmacy Network, external consulting actuaries, the PDP & PD P/L owners, and others. Decisions and recommendations to senior leaders are typically related to regulatory or legislative changes.

- Scenario development / sensitivity testing as required for possible future reactions by plans, members, manufacturers, government, or pharmacies
- Ad hoc analytics around assumption impacts due to future changes (e.g. utilization / member behavior changes)
- Model review and/or development for future changes such as 2025 Part D Redesign in Inflation Reduction Act
- Evaluating strategies around plan designs, manufacturer Point-of-Sale pricing / rebates, and formulary designs
- Quantifying and presenting on financial impacts to stakeholders

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- FSA or ASA plus relevant advanced degree, recent and relevant work experience, and/or other relevant professional designations.
- MAAA
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in more than two functions (e.g., modeling, pricing, rate filing, reporting & analysis, reserving or trending)
- Demonstrated ability to work/lead under time pressures and deadlines
- Demonstrated collaboration skills and skilled at working as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Part D or product lines that have similar aspects (ie selection dynamics of an individual purchase/payment, risk adjustment, reinsurance, and risk corridors MAY be a substitute but Part D experience is strongly preferred.)
- Proficient in SAS/SQL
- 5 or more years of technical experience
