The Risk and Profitability Measurement (RPM) team is looking for an individual to support capital allocation for P&C lines. The individual will gain exposure to Economic Capital (EC) models through their support of the insurance risk parameterization process. The individual in this position will work with business partners across the organization (e.g. ERM, Actuarial, Finance) and get a holistic view of the P&C operations. There will be the opportunity for this individual to also get involved with broader capital related projects in order to support pricing.

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$96,000 - $144,000

AD & Actuarial Associate - AS07AE

The Risk and Profitability Measurement (RPM) team is looking for an individual to support capital allocation for P&C lines. Responsibilities
- Produce the insurance risk parameterization factors for P&C lines to be used in the economic capital model
- Coordinate with actuarial and ERM to understand the impact and reasonability of the insurance risk parameter updates
- Help explain the capital allocation results from the economic capital model
- Recommend new and innovative ways to produce insurance risk parameters that balance accuracy and efficiency
- Support the annual capital allocation process through capital deep-dives for individual business segments
Experience & Skills
- B.A. or B.S. in Finance, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial Science or related field required.
- 3-5+ years of experience in insurance industry
- Actuarial credentials (ACAS/ASA or FCAS/FSA), FRM, CFA or other related professional designations preferred. Will support actuarial exams for someone meeting requirements for entry into our actuarial student program.
- Demonstrated technical, analytical and data skills
- Intermediate R programming and modelling skills required; experience with ResQ preferred
- Experience with GLM and stochastic simulations required; experience with time series analysis preferred
- Experience working independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to effectively convey technical concepts to audiences of various levels and diverse technical backgrounds
