Profile Summary:
This position has actuarial responsibility for a subset of a major operating group in Health Solutions. This position is focused on pricing for voluntary products including supplemental health (Critical Illness, Accident, and Hospital Confinement) and life. Manages day-to-day actuarial responsibilities and ensures project completion within established timelines and quality standards. Develops and mentors more junior team members. Contributes to the development of new approaches and tools.
Please Note: This position allows remote work from home but will require travel to our Voya office as business requires. Candidates must be located within a 50-mile radius from your assigned office.
Profile Description:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams on product development projects.
- Lead Actuarial filings for various products. Work closely with the filing team. Respond timely to insurance questions/objections.
- Implement and/or monitor compliance with valuation actuary requirements, develop models of assets and liabilities, monitor levels/trends of profitability by line of business/product, and assist in new product development and/or implementation
- Monitor and/or modify various formulas and actuarial models
- Manage and/or provide technical guidance to staff responsible for conducting actuarial studies and activities
- Support development of the annual strategic plans and/or communicate the model to management
- Provide detailed output needed for financial planning
- Direct the preparation and interpretation of data and related formulas
- Lead key initiatives across functional departments
- Direct projects as assigned
Knowledge & Experience:
- Bachelors' degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance or business related discipline
- Fellow of Society of Actuaries
- 7+ years financial, insurance industry, or actuarial experience
- Highly analytical, strong oral and written communication skills, detail oriented with an ability to solve complex business problems; capable of effectively communicating with all audiences; good presentation skills
- Strong knowledge of applicable insurance metrics and / or accounting standards
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to manage and negotiate competing priorities and deadlines
- Capable of effectively participating in cross functional / cross business unit teams
