Additive Manufacturing Engineering Technologist

Overview
We are seeking a driven Additive Manufacturing Engineering Technologist to join our team and gain hands-on experience in metal and polymer 3D printing, powder materials processing, and CAD. The Technologist will also assist with operating CNC machines, designing fixtures using CAD software, running 3D printer builds, and performing quality inspections. This role offers an excellent opportunity to apply your knowledge in a real-world manufacturing environment while contributing to various production processes in the medical and aerospace industry.
Duties
- Prepare and process AM builds metal and polymer 3D printers, ensuring correct machine setup, material selection, appropriate quality system and part orientation for optimal results.
- Support PADM’s metal and polymer additive manufacturing departments.
- Prepare strategies for additive manufacturing using design for additive manufacturing (DfAM) principles
- Perform 3D modelling, CAD design, and create technical drawings for part manufacturing
- Implement post-processing strategies for metal AM parts including heat treatment, support removal, and surface finishing.
- Ensure project compliance per the companies Quality Management System and maintain an understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and AS9100 quality requirements
- Monitor the printing process, making adjustments as necessary to ensure quality and precision of printed parts.
- Post-process 3D printed parts after builds, including any necessary supports removal, cleaning, and finishing.
- Maintain accurate records of each build, including part details, materials used, and any issues encountered during the process.
- Use CAD software to design and develop fixtures to hold parts during CNC machining operations.
- Work closely with the engineering team to ensure fixtures meet part-specific requirements and contribute to efficient production processes.
- Modify existing fixtures as needed to accommodate different part designs or changes in production specifications.
Requirements
- Certified engineering diploma from accredited Canadian CET Program.
- Basic knowledge of metal and polymer 3D printing.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or machining environment preferred.
- Extensive CAD experience and design skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings and data sets effectively with formal training in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Basic knowledge of CNC machine operation and tooling.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control.
- Following work instructions and process with accuracy an efficiency.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Can take shift work from time-to-time during evening and weekends.
Skills
- Extensive Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM) experience is a very important for a strong candidate.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficient CAD Skills: SolidWorks, nTopology, Materialize Magics, EOSPrint, Fusion 360, NX,
- Designing for Additive Manufacturing with Metal Laser Powder Bed Fusion Technology and support structures
- Excellent manufacturing engineering design skills for CNC machining
- Knowledgeable in problem-solving and quality improvement tools and techniques.
- High attention to detail and the ability to work in a team environment are essential.
- Strong communication skills.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Good planning skills.
- Self-driven, and able to make decisions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

- Candidate will require an RCMP background check and must meet the requirements of the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00-$72,000.00 per year
