TITLE: SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT - ORIGINATION OPERATIONS

STATUS: EXEMPT

REPORTS TO: EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT - CHIEF LENDING OFFICER

PAY SCALE: $253,935.00 - $270,000.00 ANNUALLY

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The SVP Origination Operations reports directly to the EVP - CLO. The SVP oversees and ensures reliable origination operations for retail and business deposits, consumer lending, home lending, and business lending. The SVP will develop and implement strategies that enable seamless member and employee experiences and exceptional service to enable operational effectiveness, member growth and superior financial strength. The SVP will collaborate with senior management on enterprise initiatives and standards to ensure alignment with our risk management appetite and to accomplish strategic goals and objectives.

TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:

  1. Oversee and ensure reliable origination operations - including the underwriting, processing and closing of applications - for all deposit and lending products as well as vital vendor relationships.
  2. Proactively research, develop, and implement strategic initiatives to realize optimal operational effectiveness and member satisfaction.
  3. Remain current on service delivery and technology trends in originations and recommend proactive strategies for automation and efficiency while maintaining high levels of service.
  4. Collaborate with other departments to drive operations centric initiatives. Lead innovative member support functions focusing on a digital first philosophy while continuously implementing change that improves the member experience.
  5. Participate in executive management decision-making and improve operational and service-related efficiencies of the Credit Union and future enhancements to maximize analysis, efficiencies, revenue streams, and the member experience.
  6. Be available to make executive decisions as needed for a business that operates twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
  7. Set goals, monitor work, and evaluate results to ensure that departmental and organizational objectives and business requirements are met and are in line with the priorities of the enterprise.
  8. Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance related to all areas of oversight.
  9. Foster a positive and engaging work environment for each team member by promoting skill development, coaching for improvement and growth, inspiring others through your words and actions, ensuring positive employee morale throughout Golden 1, and embracing our mission, vision, and core values.
  10. Provide leadership to leaders and staff on technical and administrative matters.
  11. Keep abreast of industry developments including, but not limited to, changes in regulations, technology, payments, digital services, and other operational trends.
  12. Provide enterprise leadership and contribute subject matter expertise as needed across the Credit Union to further corporate initiatives, provide business insight, support peers, strengthen operations and change, and advance achievement of Credit Union strategic and financial goals.
  13. Acts as a Role Model for the Golden Commitments to Leadership.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Credit Union's strategic goals and objectives.
  15. Develop and maintain an understanding of the pertinent regulatory requirements and risks inherent to job responsibilities, establish, and maintain control activities that mitigate those risks consistent with the Credit Union's risk appetite, and ensure operational integrity and compliance with applicable regulations.

PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASK:

  1. Effective oral and written communication skills required to manage and evaluate staff, create presentations, prepare reports, write recommendations, execute analysis, and accomplish other managerial functions as listed.
  2. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to operate Service and other standard office equipment.
  3. Reliable leader with the ability to maintain the highest level of integrity and trust.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS:

  1. INTERNAL: Senior Management leadership, Board of Directors, and all levels of staff.
  2. EXTERNAL: Members, vendors, government agencies, credit union industry associations, and peers in financial institutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work experience. Master's Degree preferred.
  2. EXPERIENCE: Minimum 15 years of experience in a related operational role, preferably at a financial institution.
    1. Seven or more years of progressively responsible management experience at a senior level.
    2. Seven years of mortgage origination operations management experience preferred.
    3. Several years of commercial and small business operations management experience preferred.
  3. KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS: Customer service focus. Excellent problem solving, organizational, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills. Strong decision making and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects/duties. Results driven, service oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently. Confident leader with the ability to express a vision to the organization and subsequently delegate responsibility as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.
  2. Corrected vision within the normal range.
  3. Hearing within normal range. A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed.
  4. Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc.
  5. Occasional travel locally, statewide, and nationally required to evaluate Service products and services, network with peers, and attend conferences, seminars, and meetings. Overnight travel and evening schedules included.
  6. Unusually long work hours may be required to accomplish tasks.

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

A current and valid California driver's license.
