Summary
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (OA) (TITLE 5), Position Description Number T5052000 and is part of the IL DCSOPS, National Guard.

- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
- IAW The Fair Chance Act, Agency employees may not request criminal history information at the point of initial application, upon receipt of an application, or prior to, during or after a job interview. If an Optional Form (OF) 306, Declaration of Employment is submitted prior to the point of a conditional offer, questions related to background information section may not be asked.
- This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.
- Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

- PCS expenses may be authorized.
Qualifications
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the lower grade level in the Federal service in order to be considered for this position.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-6 Level MUST possess at least 1-year of specialized experience at the GS-5 Level; experience conducting research on a wide variety of complex administrative problems; recommending solutions and courses of action for administrative functions; experience developing policies and procedures; maintain correspondence and reports; experience in the interpretation and application of regulations, procedures or law: experience using oral and written communication. GS-5 Level MUST possess at least 1-year of specialized experience at the GS-4 Level; experience performing administrative work, gathering information, compiling data and preparing reports: experience in the interpretation and application of regulations, procedures or law: experience using oral and written communication.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education
If you are using Education to qualify for this position, to qualify at the GS 5 Level you must have completed at least 4 years of education above a high school degree.
This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.
You must provide official transcripts to support your educational claims.
