Job Description

At the Tom James Company, an Assistant supports our sales team members, store leaders, and key organizational leaders fulfilling our mission to be a global leader in the fashion industry. An assistant is a valued member of the Tom James sales support team. We currently have a part-time position available for 18 hours per week in our New York office. The starting rate of pay is $21 per hour, with bonus opportunity.


Core Responsibilities


The Assistant's responsibilities include day-to-day support of their sales team member. This includes tasks such as tracking orders, entering sales leads, delivering customer service, and providing daily support for client visits. The Assistant also has the privilege of helping build the Tom James business.


The primary responsibilities of an Assistant at Tom James are:

  • Delivering exceptional customer service
  • Communicating directly with clients by:
  • setting up appointments
  • sending appointment reminders
  • evaluating wardrobes
  • communicating order details
  • scheduling deliveries
  • picking up and delivering client items as needed (within 5 miles radius of office)
  • sending introductory and promotional messages
  • Providing ongoing support to sales professional by:
  • organizing inventory
  • prepping clothing prior to client delivery
  • coordinating and maintaining all client orders/files
  • tracking alteration details
  • collecting payments from clients
  • Re-engaging with dormant clients.
  • Meeting regularly with sales professional for:
  • setting goals
  • managing daily calendar
  • Communicating regularly with other members of the store team
  • Performing other duties as assigned

A successful candidate will exhibit the following:

  • Tech Savviness with:
  • Social Media (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook)
  • Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Forms)
  • Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, listening)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Professional image to interface with corporate clients
  • Outstanding time management skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Basic accounting skills
  • Flexibility and ability to multitask
  • Motivation to tackle challenges
  • Ability to bend and lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Relevant education or office-related experience (2 years preferred)
  • Experience working in a sales-oriented environment is a plus!
