Role Summary
• Participation in a Product development team from inception to manufacturing launch, including the DFMEA's through the PDP Process.
• Lead in developing tooling standards and verification that sourced tooling meets established standards to include tool follow-up for assembly.
• Coordinating Equipment/Manufacturing Reviews (Internal and Executive Reviews) with cross functional team with defined expectations and secures buy-off from internal customers on assembly strategy/processes.
• Evaluate new processing methods technology for application purposes against new business opportunities.
• Lead in make verses buy equipment decisions; assist in resolving supplier technical issues arising from deviation requests, design ambiguities and manufacturability.
• Participate in developing tooling standards and verification that sourced tooling meets established standards to include tool follow-up for molding and coatings.
• Creation of Manufacturing flow charts and equipment capacity studies for all processes.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead for all new Program Capital Expenditures to include equipment / tooling / infrastructure.
• Regular communications with program team as it relates to new program awards and status.
• Support Sales initiatives to further develop Customer relationships and seek new business.
• Good working knowledge of project information and project interdependencies in order to make informed decisions.
• Meet your commitments; confront and elevate issues timely.
• Prepare work instructions for new process and update current work instructions as per changes happen during production.
• Ensure equipment effectiveness.
• Assist in dimensional verification of components and finished product.
• Coordinates pre-production activities with Operations to ensure assembly builds are carried out to meet program deliverables.
• Manage the product integrity of builds.
• Participate in corrective actions for Customer complaints.
• Assist in pre-production activities with Operations to ensure tool trials and assembly builds are carried out to meet program deliverables.
• Participate in corrective action for customer complaints.
• Assist in resolving supplier technical issues arising from deviation requests and production.
• Other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
• Diploma or Degree in Industrial / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering required.
• Minimum of 3-5 years Engineering and Manufacturing experience in the Automotive and/or Automotive Supply
• Base sector required (focus on Assembly Methods, Molding, Coating and Tooling an asset).
• Experience in an Integrated Product Development Team environment required.
• Knowledge of Problem-Solving methods (Red X, Six Sigma, 8D, etc.) required.
• Demonstrated knowledge and execution experience as it relates to APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow
Additional Information
• Understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturability) methods and processes.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Techniques and variable / flexible standards.
• Knowledge of Customer Specific requirements (TS16949 / ISO9000 / ISO 14001 / OHSMS) and industry Standards.
• The ability to develop and maintain Program Status Reports and use reports as a Management Tool for performance monitoring against expectations.
• Develop and update PFMEA and drive RPN reduction.
• Proven ability to create and execute project plans that have achieved the identified targets.
• Prepare and present Capital projects within project timing.
• Effective equipment delivery.
• Meets established targets; Safety and ergonomic standards; established manufacturing standards; incorporating lessons learned; Initial operation Instructions Sheets - SOS/JES and PM plans.
• A continuous improvement mentality and the ability to apply this personal capability and knowledge to the companies process, products, and associates (mentoring).
• Excellent follow-up tools and mechanisms.
• Review and analysis of data from Capability Studies.
• Identify and address safety and ergonomic issues, as identified.
• Print Tolerancing and GD&T.
• Understanding of internal data acquisition system - Trans4M, QSI, Pro8.
