What Accounting contributes to Cardinal Health
Finance oversees the accounting, tax, financial plans and policies of the organization, establishes and maintains fiscal controls, prepares and interprets financial reports, oversees financial systems and safeguards the organization's assets.
Accounting establishes and maintains accounting policies and controls, completes technical research, safeguards the organization's assets and ensures accuracy of accounting and financial records in accordance with accounting standards.

The Accounting Advisor will be a key member of the Finance team, reporting to the Direct Markets Finance Consolidations Manager.

Their responsibilities include completing a range of financial reporting tasks, providing professional accountancy and commercial advice, and driving the delivery of effective operational finance processes. They will support audit processes, collaborate with cross-jurisdictional teams, and actively participate in finance projects. Additionally, they will manage US GAAP accounting close activities, monitor the balance sheet and operating cash flow, and identify improvement opportunities while mitigating financial risks.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities/Required Skills

  • Complete a range of financial reporting tasks, including statutory reporting for the production of financial reports and providing analysis and review of financial data, to meet business, commercial, and regulatory requirements.

  • Provide professional accountancy and commercial advice to multiple stakeholders in various business environments to inform decision-making.

  • Monitor the balance sheet and operating cash flow, including maintaining and updating the fixed asset register.

  • Drive the ongoing delivery of robust, effective, and efficient operational finance processes and controls, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Support external and internal audit processes, including working with external auditors for entities requiring statutory audits.

  • Collaborate with other teams (including cross-jurisdiction) to ensure effective teamwork, role cover, and commonality of best practice and direction.

  • Support and actively participate in projects across the finance team, ensuring business readiness criteria are agreed upon and delivered for key projects.

  • Ensure adequate training and involvement of others to embrace various projects impacting the Finance teams.

  • Manage US GAAP accounting close and statutory responsibilities for complex entities within Europe, including performing trend analysis and reviewing monthly activity.

  • Work with third-party firms and local accounting teams to complete US GAAP and Local GAAP close activities, holding them accountable to high performance and meeting project deadlines.

  • Possess the relevant experience and capabilities to identify, research, evaluate, conclude on, and document both technical GAAP matters and operational accounting issues.

  • Strategically and effectively identify improvement opportunities, employing the appropriate tools, approach, and cross-functional involvement to execute on these opportunities while remaining flexible and adaptable.

  • Identify and respond to internal control and financial statement risks, effectively mitigating these risks and concluding on the effectiveness of related mitigation efforts.

  • Support cross-functional initiatives to implement digital tools through partnership and collaboration with internal and external project participants and other stakeholders.


Qualifications

  • Professional accountancy qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CIMA or local equivalent)

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in accounting, finance or related areas

  • 3+ yearsโ€™ PQE.

  • Business partnering and strong communication skills.

  • Proficiency in English: Advanced (read, write, speak).

  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel Skills), knowledge of SAP or a similar ERP preferred.

  • Ability to work in a highly matrix environment.

  • Ability to successfully establish processes in a dynamic environment.
