Job Description

As a valued colleague on our team, you will help build and execute a Second Line risk-based oversight program to support Fannie Mae’s compliance with fair housing and fair lending laws, regulations, and supervisory guidance. You will lead assessments of fair housing and fair lending risk for the Enterprise and partner with First Line business units as they identify, mitigate, and correct self- and supervisory-identified risks. Your work will include regular monitoring; targeted reviews of First Line business risk identification and mitigation; the application of quantitative analyses to advance fair housing and lending; and ensuring effective coordination with business units, legal experts, and other key partners in the execution of focused and sustainable compliance activities. You will engage directly with Fannie Mae’s regulators on fair housing and lending matters and help ensure high-quality and timely regulatory reporting.

We have two openings for this job and it can be worked on a Hybrid basis from one of our offices.

TheĀ Advisor for Fair Lending Compliance and Risk Oversight role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Design and implement calibrated, streamlined First Line business unit requirements for risk identification, control documentation, and self-assessments.
  • Lead compliance activities including monitoring, targeted reviews, and gap analyses, producing high-quality work products that require minimal review and revision.
  • Guide colleagues in preparing analyses and reports used to determine business activities that pose potential fair housing and fair lending risks to the enterprise.
  • Review and edit deliverables of other team members prior to management review.
  • Spot and solve issues with limited guidance and collaboration.
  • Advise on and lead strategic projects independently. Demonstrate innovative thinking to redesign processes, solve issues, or conduct analyses unconstrained by current process structure.
  • Demonstrate decision making skills and good judgment on issues, analyses or projects and moveĀ projects forward with limited guidance. Independently workĀ with stakeholders across the team and enterprise.
  • Assess the likelihood and severity of fair housing and fair lending risks and ensure that resources are targeted in a risk-prioritized manner.
  • Present analyses and results to senior management and/or regulator.

Qualifications

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Minimum Required Experiences

  • 6 years related experience which includes fair lending and housing risk identification and analysis, testing and reporting.
  • Proven ability to identify barriers to results and provide solutions, thinking creatively and critically throughout this process.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience preparing reports and documentation summarizing test results and findings.
  • Strong writing and communication skills and ability to present to colleagues, senior management and regulators.
  • Ability to complete projects/tests efficiently and excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to assist with the identification and escalation of compliance issues to management.
  • Experience gathering accurate information to explain concepts and answer critical questions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team member to facilitate effective enterprise-wide compliance.
  • Relationship management skills including managing and engaging stakeholders and building relationship networks.
  • Skilled in SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Desired ExperiencesĀ 

  • Master's degree or equivalent.
  • Experience analyzing data to identify trends or relationships to inform conclusions about the data.
  • Prior experience working for a financial institution or financial regulator.
  • Experience leading cross functional work with non-technical colleagues such lawyers, compliance professionals, and regulators.
