Job Description
Position: Aftermarket Solutions Engineer
We are seeking a customer‑focused, technically strong Aftermarket Engineer who will drive DX Retrofit offering, aftermarket growth, and warranty technical support. The ideal candidate is skilled in DX design, troubleshooting, communication and cross‑functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
1. Retrofit (Re‑Life) Offering Support (50%)
The Aftermarket Engineer plays a central role in delivering and expanding Nortek’s DX Re‑Life lifecycle‑extension offering under Nortek Care. Responsibilities include:
Technical Assessment & Scope Definition
- Perform technical assessments for aging units including but not limited to compressors, coils, fans and controls.
- Define Re‑Life upgrade scopes based on the project requirement and available solutions.
- Produce clear, technically sound recommendations for customers and reps.
Internal Technical Support
- Provide deep technical support to internal teams, reps, technicians, and customers for Re‑Life projects.
- Assist during installation, commissioning, and post‑upgrade performance validation.
Coordination with Sales Application Engineering (SAE)
- Submit Re‑Life technical proposals and obtain required engineering validation from SAE.
Support to Aftermarket RSMs
- Join customer calls to explain scope, feasibility, and value of Re‑Life solutions.
- Quote & provide the technical credibility needed to close Re‑Life opportunities.
- Assist RSMs in pricing logic, component selection, and solution development.
2. Out‑of‑Warranty Service Support (20%)
The Aftermarket Engineer helps “Out of Warranty” support by offering structured, value‑driven solutions:
- Handle service requests from Reps for out‑of‑warranty units.
- Provide remote troubleshooting to reduce downtime while contributing to service growth
- Identify opportunities to convert service calls into Retrofit solution projects or parts sales.
3. Warranty Support (30%)
When required, the Aftermarket Engineer supports the warranty team in ensuring timely and accurate case resolution:
- Answer technical questions related to under‑warranty units.
- Assist in identifying root causes and validating claims.
- Review field data, service reports, and diagnostic information.
- Support communication with reps to ensure clarity and technical accuracy.
- Help prepare and review technical bulletins when recurring issues are identified.
General Responsibilities (Across All Areas)
- Collaborate effectively with Engineering, Service, Parts, Quality, and Manufacturing.
- Provide structured feedback to improve products and field performance.
- Maintain high‑quality documentation and communication standards.
- Support departmental projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
- 2–5 years of relevant HVAC experience
- Experience in industrial sales or rep‑support environments (asset)
- Bilingual (French & English) – essential
- Proficient with AutoCAD or similar CAD tools
- Knowledge of Microsoft CRM, Syteline, and web‑based communication tools (asset)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel 15–25% (North America)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
