Job Description
TITLE: Agency Account Manager
DEPARTMENT: Training & Marketing
LOCATION: Candidate living or willing to relocate to North Dakota, Michigan, or Wisconsin is preferred
POSITION OBJECTIVE: Partners with AmericanAg™, Farm Bureau® insurance companies, and their agents in crop insurance sales, marketing, training, and education. This is a key role in developing long term relationships and is an important point of contact to ensure business growth, retention, and client satisfaction in designated territories.
REPORTS TO: Training & Marketing Director
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads agent training and education (in person and virtual) of federal crop, hail, and private product insurance.
- Assists in resolving problems and proactively providing value added services to accounts.
- Develops and implements account service plans highlighting deliverables, issues, and technical needs.
- Manages day-to-day agency customer service needs.
- Coaches agents in preparing and executing growth plans.
- Gathers, analyzes, and provides industry information for the benefit of the agency account.
- Demonstrates an understanding of crop insurance and how it ties to agricultural and farm management.
- Attends and presents at agent farmer meetings.
- Assists in the design/re-design of clients’ crop insurance agency programs.
- Acts as an ambassador for AFBIS with our clients and the industry.
RELATIONSHIPS: Works closely with several teams at AFBIS. Engages regularly with various AmericanAg™ and Farm Bureau® insurance company stakeholders. Participates as an employee and representative of AFBIS, Inc. in a professional and courteous manner.
EDUCATION OR TRAINING REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Minimum five years’ experience in crop insurance sales, training, underwriting, or agency management. Leadership, decision-making, and analytical skills. Customer service oriented. Strong organizational and planning skills. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Knowledge of agriculture and farm management. Sales skills. Ability to work independently. Able to use Microsoft Office tools. Must possess a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record. Self-starter with ability to proactively manage work.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/SKILLS: Federal crop insurance certified. Experience in a client-facing role. Skilled presenting to groups. Experience coaching and developing agents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position requires regular regional travel to visit client sites and occasional national travel to industry meetings and conferences. Total travel time may be up to 35%. Occasional lifting of items approximately 40 pounds may be required.
