Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team in a hybrid role encompassing Project Management, Scrum Mastery, and Release Management. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in enhancing our project delivery processes, managing our Agile practices, and refining our release procedures.

This position will report to the VP of Engineering and work closely with the VP of Product, the Product Management Team, and multiple Engineering teams. You will help these teams execute on the release plans you create and maintain.

We are remote-friendly but also have a great office environment in downtown San Diego.

Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the assigned projects and lead from start to finish, ensuring the product satisfies all the requirements defined by the product management team.
  • Have a strong understanding of software development life cycle and scalability. Identify and troubleshoot any issues proactively.
  • Proactively identify risks and mitigations: Develop plans to address, facilitate tradeoff decisions at the portfolio level, raise to key stakeholders, remove obstacles, and seek resolution.
  • Collaborate with the product management team and understand product requirements; then collaborate with the Software Architect/Tech lead and other team stakeholders to groom the backlog and create timelines broken down into initiatives, epics, user stories, and tasks.
  • Attend and lead daily Scrum meetings, keeping all team members informed and on track. We use Jira for task tracking.
  • Help identify and address blockers in and outside of daily meetings.
  • Organize, lead, and document sprint reviews and retrospective sessions to encourage knowledge sharing and gather feedback.
  • Manage the project structure within Jira and other Jira configurations to empower all team members and relevant stakeholders to get the most value out of Jira.
  • Track and measure team capacity; plan sprints accordingly, create and assign tasks to both internal full-time employees and contractors.
  • Collaborate with designers, developers and product owners to ensure seamless integration of the product components with the desired functionality.
  • Continuously evaluate project progress and make necessary adjustments to ensure the project stays on track.
  • Optimize the release process, working with Product Managers and Tech Leads, to ensure effective scheduling and execution of product releases.
  • Efficiently allocate resources and assist in task prioritization for optimal project completion.
  • Coordinate with product development teams to ensure quality standards in product releases.
  • Track and manage product development KPIs that are influenced by both product management and engineering.
  • Facilitate clear and consistent communication across development, operations, and business teams.
  • Coordinate with Product Managers to conduct User Acceptance Testing and relay feedback back to the development teams.
  • Create and manage product releases in coordination with Product Managers and the development team

Requirements

  • 4+ years professional experience with software development project management
  • Strong understanding of and prior experience with Scrum is a must.
  • Experience with managing software releases.
  • Jira experience is required; familiarity with Smartsheet is a plus.
  • Technical knowledge of front-end technologies and how it communicates with other parts through API.
  • Strong track record of managing contractors to baseline schedules and budgets
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Must be able to communicate with both technical and business users.
  • Passion for innovation and delivering exceptional experiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • A proactive and driven mindset, with a focus on delivering results.
  • Ability to take ownership and work effectively independently, with minimal oversight and supervision.
  • Experience at an enterprise SAAS company, at a startup, or an enterprise SAAS startup is a plus.
