The AGRIntelligence (AI) Information Specialist provides support for AI services across an assigned division within the company. In this role, you will assist AI Technicians and the sales team with the implementation, marketing and understanding of precision agriculture technologies including soil sampling, yield monitor technical assistance, data interpretation/analysis and other tasks related to customer service of precision agriculture and information management services.
The employee's primary duty must be the performance of office or non-manual work directly related to the management or general business operations of Helena or Helena's customers. This also includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.
Helena's trademarked "AGRIntelligence" business, often referred to as "AI" internally, was developed by Helena over 20 years ago to focus exclusively on creating new and innovative technologies to analyze each specific field to help guide our growers critical decisions and prevent potential problems in an effort to help make them more successful year after year.
What your day may look like
- Works with AI Technicians and the sales team to help them market precision agriculture services to customers, one-on-one and in group meetings. This function will constitute approximately 75 percent of the job responsibility.
- Assists AI Technicians, Branch Managers and the sales team with the positioning and selling of AI products and services.
- Communicates with AI Technicians and other branch team members to ensure that AI products and services meet company standards and quality expectations.
- Develops and implements agronomic programs that tie into the company's overall goals and objectives.
- Provides troubleshooting assistance to the location, sales team and/or farmers for the operation of precision agriculture software and hardware components.
- Ensures that all data collected through the functions of the job are safely and securely transferred to the central processing center for timely completion.
- Assists with in-season data processing and ordering.
- Assists with the diagnostics of precision agriculture equipment such as VRT hardware, yield monitors, computers and software at the locations, in the farmers' fields and/or in application equipment.
- Evaluates new technologies including gathering research data and testing new hardware and software to assist the company in future purchases and investment decisions.
- Other work-related duties as assigned by your leader.
- Reliable and regular attendance is expected.
Education and experience needed for this position
- A bachelor's degree and five years of related work experience is required or no degree and eight years of related work experience is required.
Other skills that will help you succeed
- Excellent computer skills.
- Working knowledge in precision information management and the demonstrated ability to utilize same.
- Working knowledge of retail ag-supply business including crop input recommendations to grower.
- Experience helpful in various customer application methods.
- Knowledge of full-service retail fertilizer and/or chemical business general operation.
- Knowledge of agricultural crop input and services.
- Ability to make public presentations.
- Good driving record and valid driver's license.
- Ability to travel.
Your work environment and the physical aspects of the job

The work environment for this position may require the employee to work in an outdoor setting in all types of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements. When working outdoors and possibly around moving equipment/mechanical parts, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations and a risk of electrical shock. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit. You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
