The Generative AI Technology team at Point72 is a group of skilled professionals who are responsible for  conceptualizing and developing, the firm's Generative AI efforts. The team works closely with business stakeholders, the Tech Innovation team, and development teams across Technology to deploy cutting-edge AI technology that has the ability to transform the firm’s operations.

What you’ll do

As an AI engineer you will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and prototyping cutting-edge techniques for prompting, finetuning, and chatting with proprietary and open-source large language models (LLMs) to produce best output for different applications and requirements. You will work closely with other team members to design and implement algorithms for natural language and other generation tasks. 

Specifically, you will:

• Design and develop AI prompt techniques (including in context, zero-shot, few-shot, soft prompts, prompt chains, chain-of-thought, etc.)
• Experiment with hyperparameter tuning for large language models in different applications, including software and code generation
• Prompt, finetune, and chat with LLMs and understand how to produce best output
• Continuously optimize and improve prompts based on performance testing and user feedback
• Conduct experiments and perform data analysis to evaluate model performance and identify areas for improvement
• Develop and implement practical and measurable performance criteria for evaluating prompt and model performance
• Work with engineering and product teams to integrate prompts into applications and collaborate to identify and solve technical challenges and implement innovative solutions
• Keep up to date with the latest advancements in Generative AI, LLMs, and prompt engineering and bring new ideas to the team
• Write clear and concise technical documentation for models, algorithms, software tools and proof of concept use cases

What’s required

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or related field
• 2+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on working with large language models and prompt engineering
• Strong knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++
• Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
• Experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP), especially in language modeling
• Familiarity with architecture and operation of large language models and generative models such as GPT, BERT, or T5
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design and implement complex algorithms
• An ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Curiosity, an ability to embrace uncertainty, and with a willingness to accept failure while exploring new ideas
• Commitment and adherence to the highest ethical standards

The annual base salary range for this role is $150,000-$250,000, which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
