AI Programmer (Staff/Senior)

Obsidian is looking for an experienced AI Programmer familiar with creating games using the Unreal Engine to join our team of talented RPG developers.

Our ideal candidate enjoys working closely with designers and other programmers to develop as well as maintain high-quality gameplay and AI systems. This person has a strong work ethic, outstanding problem-solving skills, the ability to deliver on time, and works well in a team environment.

This position requires the ability to work onsite or in a hybrid capacity at the Obsidian Entertainment office in Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities

• 3+ years of industry experience developing for PC and consoles
• Designing, implementing, debugging, and optimizing AI systems and behaviors using C++ in Unreal Engine 
• Collaborating with designers and other programmers to improve AI systems
• Mentoring other programmers

Requirements

• Prior AI programming experience
• Domain-specific AI knowledge including decision making systems, pathfinding, and avoidance algorithms
• Proficiency in C++
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Engineering

Pluses

• Experience with Unreal Engine
• Experience interfacing with animation systems and animators

The estimated base pay range for this role is:

• $123,900 - $172,500 per year
