AIC Holdings (AIC) is the family office and investment arm for the Bird family, which owns and operates Jetta Operating Company, Inc. (www.jettaoperating.com).  We invest across multiple asset classes, including direct investments, operating companies, hedge funds, private equity funds, real estate, venture capital, crypto, oil and gas, and public securities. AIC Holdings is hiring an Investment Associate to work alongside the Chief Investment Officer/President and the Chief Operating Officer as an analyst on a broad range of investment activities.  This is a unique opportunity to join a young, entrepreneurial, and multi-generational organization at an early stage in a foundational role.  The Investment Associate will directly assist the principals in the evaluation and monitoring of new and current investments across a broad range of asset classes and strategies.  These include working directly with the CIO to actively manage a global long/short public equity portfolio and cryptocurrency portfolio, and assisting the investment team in the evaluation and monitoring of investments in hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, real estate, natural resources, credit and fixed income, as well as analysis on other family specific projects. 

The ideal candidate has developed quantitative exceptionalism through a combination of their undergraduate degree program and early career experience. As examples, degree programs in engineering, math or physics would all be highly valued.  Experience in investment banking or as an analyst in a hedge fund could both be ideal backgrounds.

AIC has offices in Dallas and Fort Worth, with Fort Worth being the main office.  The Investment Associate may office primarily in either location, but will work at least two days a week in the Fort Worth office if he/she offices primarily in Dallas.  Both offices share space with other investment groups led by young entrepreneurs and representing a range of strategies including venture capital and hedge funds.  The opportunities for learning and growth as well as networking are unique perks of this role.  While expectations for performance are exceptionally high, this position will provide a more balanced quality of life than many early career positions in financial services. The role is designed to be a two-year contract with the possibility of extending the term or becoming permanent, based upon the individual’s career goals and performance.

• Bachelors degree in a quantitative field with strong academic credentials; we especially appreciate coursework in engineering, physics, math, and finance
• 2+ years of relevant investment experience; for example, in investment banking or as a hedge fund analyst
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling
• Experience with Bloomberg is a plus
• Experience with Python or other programming languages is a plus

• Assist the principals in all aspects of the management and growth of the broader investment portfolio.
• Work directly with the CIO on the day-to-day management of internal long/short strategy.
• Participate in sourcing, evaluation, analysis, and diligence of direct and co-investment private opportunities.
• Monitor and collaborate with outsourced investment managers in order to maximize benefit of the managers’ ecosystems.
• Prepare quarterly investment performance analysis and daily risk management dashboards.
• Support the CIO on ad hoc projects and provide coverage with miscellaneous assignments during periods of travel.
