Within Aladdin, the Aladdin Sustainability team drives the product development and client delivery of sustainability data, analytics, and technology for the firm and its clients The team is part of the Aladdin and partners significantly with several groups across BlackRock like Aladdin Engineering (AE). Being a member of this team means you are responsible for incorporating sustainability analytics throughout the investment lifecycle - you will work horizontally to build innovative, sustainability focused technology solutions that shape the way information, people, and technology intersect within financial markets.
Job Purpose/ Background
Sitting at the intersection of business and technology, the Associate, Product Manager joining Aladdin Sustainability will work closely with developers, researchers, and other stakeholders to innovate, conceptualize, design and pilot new sustainability capabilities across the investment lifecycle. The position is a combination of both strategic and tactical tasks. There are many strategic areas that need exploration, evaluation, and prioritization, while in parallel ensuring that the tactical needs for continuing to deliver the product are met.
In this role, you will advance the regulatory requirements, feature development, automation, and user experience of Aladdin Sustainability. On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for capturing requests from multiple stakeholders, documenting product requirements, translating these into our Agile operating model Epics and Feature stories and prioritizing them as part of the backlog grooming. You will work very closely with both our engineering and UX design teams to bring the product to market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partners with teams across the Aladdin, including commercial, product, analytics, engineering, and BlackRock Sustainable Investing to drive forward strategic product decisions that accelerate the Aladdin Sustainability offering.
- Collaborates and facilitates discussion and requirements between product, business and engineering teams
- Examine client practices and compare them to industry standards (e.g., understand how the regulatory landscape impacts how our clients incorporate sustainability analytics)
- Evaluates business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing specifications for both near and longer-term solutions
- Attending and helping manage all key agile development rituals such as stand-ups, grooming, planning, demos, and retrospectives with a goal of running the sprints
- Maintain feature boards with engineering to ensure timely and accurate status reports
- Produces key artifacts that are critical to the delivery of excellent software products including:
- Business Requirement Documents
- Data Definition Documents
- Product Release Notes
- Use Cases & User Stories
- Test Cases
Skills and Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in either investment management, product management or sustainability related businesses
- Keen curiosity about climate change and sustainability topics, financial markets and ability to comprehend the impact of market events
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey sophisticated concepts simply and effectively to clients
- Understanding of product and software development lifecycles
- Experience interacting with product stakeholders, including end users and software developers
- Ability to use data and clearly articulate sophisticated ideas, both written and oral, to internal and external audiences across levels of seniority
For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $118,750 - $135,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model
BlackRock's hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week. Some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities.
