AltaGas - Sr Financial Analyst
Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the Sr Financial Analyst is part of a team responsible for monthly and ad hoc accounting for AltaGas’ dynamic and rapidly growing energy marketing and exports business.

You Will:

• Calculate monthly accrual entries to ensure accurate results and provide assistance in analyzing variances to benchmarks

• Calculate WACOG and provide detailed analysis of product movements and review standard costing assumptions

• Execute critical controls over financial reporting as part of periodic accounting cycles

• Support the settlements team with complex accounting or process issues that arise

• Complete reconciliations for general ledger accounts

• Liaise between customers, front office, middle office, tax and management to develop and maintain a clear flow of information

• Assist in process improvement initiatives and ad hoc requests

You Have:

• Professional accounting designation (CPA) or working towards a designation, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience

• Previous experience within or exposure to the midstream space

• Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The successful candidate will be able to work with external and internal stakeholders with varying backgrounds

• Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision, have a strong attention to detail and be able to prioritize and meet tight deadlines

• Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite – especially MS Excel

• Bachelors’ Degree (Commerce, Business Administration or related discipline) with a focus on accounting or finance

• Knowledge of JD Edwards, Allegro, Quick Launch and Power BI considered an asset
