Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

Teaching Assistants (TAs) play a critical role in teaching Correlation One’s virtual Amazon Data Center Technician training program. The TA commitment for our programs will be for the duration of fourteen weeks. TAs will be expected to support synchronous sessions as well as provide asynchronous support to Fellows to ensure their comprehension and learning. This is a fully remote role.

We review applications on a rolling basis and expect to make all hiring decisions by January 5th 2023. Please note that applications and roles are filled on a first come first serve basis.

PROGRAM SCHEDULE

The program is held over 14 weeks, from January 24, 2023 to May 11, 2023. Classes will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12-2 PM ET for 14 weeks. 

Two break weeks are scheduled during this program: 

  1. The week of February 12 for Presidents Day (US)/Family Day(CAN)
  2. The week of April 2 for Easter.

TAs are expected to support ~25-30 learners from the US and Canada in their learning as they work toward completion of the program.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Onboarding (Pre-Program): January 5-15, 2023

We will host 1 live onboarding sessions, when we walk through the program elements, set you up on our systems, and ensure that you are prepared to teach and support learners effectively before the program launches on January 24, 2023. We will provide training materials in advance of, during, and after these onboarding sessions, which will be important for you to ensure your understanding of this content and your responsibilities.

Mandatory Onboarding: Monday January 16 from 12-2PM ET

Management and Support (During Program): January 24 - May 11, 2023

  • Join us for our program launch, where you will introduce yourself to learners
  • Attend all classes, scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12-2pm ET
  • Join TA Weekly Meetings (1 hour each week). 
  • Provide up to 6 hours of individual office hour sessions for learners each week. You may set these hours within our parameters, for your convenience.
  • Support in Grading Fellow’s deliverables 
  • Work with fellow instructors/TAs and our team on ways to improve learner experience (Note: you will be paired with a fellow TA to support a cohort of learners) 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience working in physical data centers or similar environments
  • Experience in mentoring or supervising if not prior teaching experience
  • A desire to support students in upskilling their careers into data roles
  • Empathy, flexibility, patience; passion for working with diverse learners who are new to content
  • A+ or Network+ certification is an asset (but not a requirement)

This position is accessible for those with other professional responsibilities, including full-time jobs, provided you can commit to regular synchronous support for live class sessions. We require a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice for any planned absences from live sessions or periods when TAs are not available (i.e., scheduled vacations, other work commitments, etc.).
