AML Operations Analyst I
Job Description
This position is for the Client Intelligence Unit (CIU) AML Operations Analyst I for TIAA. The CIU serves as part of the first line of defense against AML and Fraud for enterprise businesses. This position is responsible for helping the firm stay Bank Secrecy Act compliant through AML Customer Due Diligence alert handling. The AML Analyst I primarily performs watch list filtering screening for Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), and other efforts.
The CIU Analyst I should have 1 to 3 years of relevant financial crimes or financial services experience (e.g. fraud, AML, operations or service). The role will require working closely with Business Units and Compliance teams to provide high quality services in support of the Enterprise AML Program.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Matching research for monitoring of watch list filters such as OFAC, PEP, Negative News, and others.
- Escalation of Potential WLF Matches to CIU Manager or the Financial Intelligence Unit.
- Conducting research utilizing available tools, systems, and the internet, consistent with the resolution of alerts.
- Assessment of client profile data against potential matches to ensure normal and expected activity.
- Documentation in narrative style format in the case management system (managed through both manual and automated processes) and prepare reports to management as required.
- Promptly escalating critical or reputational risk matters to the CIU Manager.
- Support special projects and initiatives, as needed.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements
- BS/BA Degree or equivalent experience is required.
Preferred
- 1 to 3 years of relevant financial crimes or financial services Banking experience (e.g. fraud, AML, operations or service).
- Working knowledge of AML regulatory guidance and industry practices.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret data and assess reasonability.
- Knowledge of various AML typologies.
- Analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems and execute on solutions.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Adaptability to learn new technology.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities to meet business needs.

Potential Salary: $29.86 USD
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
