Description

The World Bank Group is one of the largest sources of funding and knowledge for developing countries; a unique global partnership of five institutions dedicated to ending extreme poverty and promoting shared prosperity. With 189 member countries and more than 120 offices worldwide, we work with public and private sector partners, investing in groundbreaking projects and using data, research, and technology to develop solutions to the most urgent global challenges. For more information, visit www.worldbank.org.

The devastating human, economic, and social cost of COVID-19 has highlighted the urgent need for coordinated action to build stronger health systems and mobilize additional resources for pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response. While there are many institutions and financing mechanisms that support pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response activities, none of them is focused solely on it. This means that spending on other immediate needs can take priority over critical pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response investments, the returns on which may only be visible in the future.

Against this backdrop, the new Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response Financial Intermediary Fund ("PPR FIF") has been established as a dedicated, multilateral funding mechanism to support critical investments to strengthen pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response capacities at national, regional, and global levels, with a focus on IDA and IBRD countries.

The PPR FIF is a collaborative partnership among donor countries, co-investors (countries that are eligible to receive FIF funding), foundations, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and Implementing Entities, including the World Bank, IFC, other MDBs, the WHO, UNICEF, FAO, and key global health institutions. The governing and administrative bodies of the PPR FIF are (i) the Governing Board, (ii) the Technical Advisory Panel (TAP), the Secretariat hosted by the World Bank, and the Trustee. The Implementing Entities (IEs) will support implementation of PPR FIF-financed projects and activities.

The Secretariat is looking for an energetic, resourceful, and well-qualified Analyst to support the team in ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality results. The Analyst will report to the Executive Head of the Secretariat and work with members of the secretariat as well as other internal and external stakeholders.

Key duties and accountabilities will include, inter alia, the following:
• Supporting Governing Board meetings and meetings of Board Working Groups/Committees, including through preparation of meeting agendas and invitations, minutes, and power point presentations; research-based inputs and analytical support to papers/documents for Board discussion or approval; tracking and compiling comments from Board members on various notes/papers circulated by the Secretariat; compiling and regularly updating the Board list and associated distribution lists; and logistical support to meetings and events, as needed.• Supporting the Secretariat's functions in convening TAP meetings and providing support, as needed, to the TAP's work. • Helping with the preparation of progress reports on portfolio results/impact, requiring portfolio data gathering, monitoring and analysis, and involving coordination with Implementing Entities, Beneficiaries, and Trustee. • Helping with the preparation of notes, newsletters, and blogs to disseminate updates on the PPR FIF, as well as content, as needed, for the PPR FIF website.• Building strong relationships with internal and external counterparts.

Note: This internal requisition is open to WBG and IMF staff only (including short-term and extended term consultants/ temporaries). External candidates are requested not to apply. In case an external candidate applies, their application will not be considered.

Selection Criteria
• Masters' degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., economics, finance, business administration, social sciences, or other fields related to development) and at least two years of relevant professional experience.• Demonstrated research and analytical skills, including a proven ability to gather and analyze data and information, and present it in an easily digestible way.• Good capacity to prepare presentations with clear narratives and targeted messaging.• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, and excellent oral communications and writing skills.• Outstanding personal organization skills and demonstrated ability to take initiative, personal ownership, and accountability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and achieve agreed-upon results. • A commitment to teamwork and demonstrated willingness to provide help and support to others and a problem-solving mindset. • Strong client orientation, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with internal and external partners at all levels, in a multicultural environment.
