Duration: 6+ months

Location: Charlotte / Raleigh, NC

Manager Notes:

This position can be based in the Charlotte or Raleigh, NC areas – the individual would need to be able to work in-person once or twice/week

Summary:

The Role: Assist with the sales and use tax organization in the United States and Canada, which consists of internal and external resources.

Essential Duties:

• Responsible for timely and accurate compliance with state and local tax laws while providing excellent internal customer service to our field and corporate operations.
• Review sales and use tax returns prepared by outside service provider.
• Prepare account reconciliations and substantiate account balances and adjust as needed.
• Maintain and update sales tax return worksheets and procedures.
• Respond to sales tax inquiries raised by customers and taxing jurisdictions
• Ability to work with individuals in the Indirect tax group and others in the organizations to gather data needed to support audits
• Ensure indirect tax payment, reporting and compliance obligations are satisfied
• Willingness to develop ideas to improve sales and use tax processes when possible
• Establish methods and procedures to assess, quantify and manage sales and use tax audits
• Participate in tax dispute resolutions
• Coordinate activities with manager and other co-workers

Minimum Qualifications:

• College degree in Accounting or related field
• 5 to 7 years’ multi-state sales and use tax compliance experience required
• Experience with Vertex O Series sales tax software.
• Experience in sales and use taxes including audit defense
