Responsibilities
This position will report to one of the Associate Managing Directors responsible for Moody's financial institutions in North America. The Analyst will be responsible for:
- Serving as the lead analyst for financial analysis and recommending credit ratings on a portfolio of financial institutions in the North America Financial Institutions Group (FIG) team.
- Managing all aspects of the credit ratings process including meeting issuers, taking timely ratings actions, ensuring compliance with internal processes and procedures, and producing high quality credit opinions and impactful research.
- Communicating views to internal and external stakeholders, engaging with investors and participating in roundtables, as requested.
- Coaching junior ratings associates and working collaboratively and effectively with ratings associates in the production of ratings and research.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should have the following experience and qualifications:
- Strong educational background, at least equivalent to an MBA/CFA
- Multiple years of experience in an analytical, research or risk management function of an established financial institution or rating agency
- Strong knowledge of North American financial institutions - both banks and non-banks - including their financial statements, key sectoral issues and regulation
- Strong critical thinking skills, with attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to write clearly and concisely
- Strong ability to articulate views orally both internally and externally and effectively present
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work well under tight deadlines, navigate competing priorities and work both independently and collaboratively with others
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills required; fluency with programming languages and data analytic tools a plus
- Willingness to travel, as required
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is (($129,200)) to (($187,400)) , depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody's also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
