Description

Position is flexible to sit in any of the utility locations (Atlanta, GA; Naperville, IL; Virginia Beach, VA; or Chattanooga, TN) or Birmingham, AL.

Southern Company Gas is exploring the potential to integrate renewable gas into its system. This role supports all renewable gas efforts, but specifically focuses on hydrogen projects. The successful candidate will be focused on and responsible for project management of potential opportunities for the Company's regulated and commercial businesses. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally to align projects with business goals as well as manage cross-functional teams and communicate across the enterprise.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with each local distribution company and business unit to manage new projects to support the integration of hydrogen
  • Support project development efforts, including development of business cases, contract negotiations, scope development, and detailed planning
  • Interface and collaborate with technical partners and integrate any operational considerations into project development
  • Gain an understanding of current hydrogen technology and monitor future advancements in collaboration with Southern Company partners
  • Participate in industry collaborations and consortiums with members from government agencies and academic institutions
  • Facilitate the coordination between various internal teams and departments working on and supporting project development
  • Provide updates throughout the organization, including senior management
  • Other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Two or more years of project management experience, specifically leading cross-functional teams on multifaceted projects
  • Technical aptitude with the ability to understand and apply technical considerations to a project scope
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Experience in natural gas infrastructure design or operations is preferred
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must be able to visit job sites, which may be outside in rough or uneven terrain
