About the Job

MarketAxess Open Trading (OT) is a global all-to-all technology solution that allows anonymous order fulfilment with the wider market via MarketAxess. OT has transformed the bond trading landscape through its innovation and new exchange model, helping deliver excellent cost savings to both institutional investors and broker-dealers while also allowing greater trading flexibility through its sub-products like Live Markets, Market Lists, and Auto-Responder. A crucial part of the OT effort is operations and trade clearance, especially since MarketAxess became a self-clearing broker-dealer in August of 2020.

Within OT, the Analyst, Operational Reporting will produce effective metrics and reporting, create excellent data tools and visualizations and improve/create processes using technological solutions. This role will report directly to the Manager of OT Operations Reporting and will work cross functionally with various departments in the organization (accounting, finance, settlements, client services, MIS and research). This person will help shape the company’s current and future operational framework in an increasingly important function for a product (Open Trading) that continues to gain traction and influence within the overall market.

What You’ll Do

ETL Data Pipelines and Data Integrity Models:

• Build ETL Models and automations for data originating in various formats including on-premise databases, flat files and web scraping for injection into data lake as it relates to Open Trading
• Organize, normalize, and design data structures in data lake/ data warehouse for maximum effectiveness and efficiency to scale with business growth and complexity
• Deliver on ad hoc data requests pertaining to Open Trading activity

Data Visualizations:

• Leverage data lake data into Tableau, DOMO, or python applications for processing, and reporting
• Develop dashboards and visualizations depicting KPIs, KRIs, and other business initiatives
• Collaborate with stakeholders who intend to leverage the reports/dashboards
• Efficiently deliver data for production reports and create ad hoc analysis where necessary
• Provide support for reporting and analysis related questions as it pertains to Open Trading activity

Process Automations:

• Improve processes by creating automations, improving efficiency, and delivering new features
• Identify areas of opportunity through analysis and/or stakeholder feedback
• Build models, test solutions, deploy code and product as well as provide thoroughly documented solutions

What You Bring to the Table

• Bachelor’s Degree required, specialization in information systems or computer science preferred
• 1+ years’ experience in Business Intelligence, Software Engineering, Systems Analysis, or similar role
• Programming for automation and/or process improvement (using Python) required
• Knowledge of databases (SQL | Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and AWS) and data modeling required
• Keen eye for creating insightful data visualizations (e.g. Tableau, Domo, Microsoft Power BI, Python apps)
• High proficiency in MS office suite required
• Excellent analytical skills using large datasets from multiple data sources with ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative data to draw conclusions and assist in decision making
• Great organizational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines for broad range of stakeholders
• Must be able to present technical matters in a way that is meaningful to the audience
• Team player with great communication skills; ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
• Proficient with project management software (Monday.com, Smartsheet, Jira, etc.) preferred
• Knowledge of trade settlement within the bond market a plus
• Experience with Shadow Financial a plus
• Data warehousing and data mining preferred

For job positions in NYC, NY, and other locations where required, the estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $80,000 USD to $105,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. You may also be eligible for annual cash incentives, equity, and other benefit programs.
