The Investments division of Barings is seeking an analyst for the Portfolio Solutions & Analytics team. The team combines mathematical model development with market research to provide investment insights, construct portfolios, and design customized product solutions and services that are tailored to our clients’ individual needs. In addition, the team supports the portfolio management process by monitoring performance and risk metrics of portfolios, researching relevant financial and market fundamentals to support data driven decision-making. The goal of the Analyst Program is to train junior professionals such that they are able to provide leverage to senior professionals while utilizing them in a manner such that high performers will want to remain with the firm in roles of increased responsibility. 

 

Primary Responsibilities  

  • Promote a data-driven decision-making culture 

  • Financial and operational model analysis across the firm and cross-functional teams 

  • Market and asset class research 

  • Data collection and analysis 

  • Quantitative and statistical model development 

  • Develop and produce materials and provide support for recurring investment and portfolio management related meetings 

 

Qualifications 

  • Graduation date of May 2025 

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 

  • Passion for financial markets and quantitative analytics 

  • Pursing a degree in STEM, finance, economics or business 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel skills 

  • Experience in or exposure to one or more of the following: Python, R, VBA, SQL  

  • Ability to manage large data sets 

  • Basic knowledge of financial statements 

  • Strong communication and ability to convey complex and quantitative concepts across teams 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with constituents across different functional and geographic areas
