About the Role
The New York Times is looking for an Analyst to join our Audience Team.
As part of the Audience Analytics team, you will work directly with newsroom partners to help uncover meaningful patterns from our data, engineer data solutions, and develop data infrastructure. You will contribute to the team’s work in establishing metrics, frameworks, and tooling that provide the newsroom with deeper insight into our audience, coverage, and promotion strategy. You will be a curious and collaborative team player who works often with our big data and understands the importance of consistent analytic delivery to support the Times mission.
Responsibilities:
You will report to our Audience Analytics Manager
Work with company partners to understand Audience challenges and develop data-driven solutions
Write SQL to build pipelines, reporting architecture, and analyze big data
Code in R to analyze data and build data visualizations
Support data-oriented analyses to be presented to senior leadership in slide decks and memos
Develop spreadsheets to expand access to data and analytics
Occasionally help produce insights for our daily morning news meeting, with the ability to work as early as 7 A.M. EST.
Basic Qualifications:
1+ years of experience working with data analytics or data science teams to deliver analysis
Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases
1+ years of experience in an additional scripting language like R (ggplot, tidyverse) or python
1+ years of experience working with dashboarding tools such as (Mode, Tableau, Power BI, Looker, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with pipeline development
Comfort with version control (Github, code review)
