Under limited supervision performs procurement activities including vendor identification, quoting, contract negotiation, vendor selection, purchase order placement, contract administration, vendor quality management, vendor delivery management, and vendor performance management for assigned
Position is expected to use experience in Supply Chain, Operations processes, ERP Systems, technology development, planning and programming tools to interact with mostly the US business units but not limited on interactions with multiple global Sourcing teams and business units. Focus will be local and Regional procurement activities including vendor identification, quoting, vendor selection, purchase order creation, contract administration, and spend analysis for the assigned areas. Continuously working to develop implement and enforce supply chain procedures and programs. Must be able to technically understand all the SAP processes related to the Materials.
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience with driving internal business partner engagement, development of sourcing strategies, RFx, contract negotiations, and strategic sourcing practices. Identifies and evaluates potential vendors including facilitating vendor selection. Facilitates development of necessary specification packages. Negotiates and approves vendor contracts including the evaluation and management of vendor performance to insure on time deliveries and adherence to quality specifications. Tracks and communicates industry trends, competitive situations, commodity price trends, and supply/demand.
Coordinate activities with operations, generation, engineering, marketing, finance, safety, insurance, security and legal. Assists in the implementation of long range and short range supply chain and procurement strategies and programs that ensure material supply and cost containment goals for stock commodities under their control including the coordination of Inventory Planning activities, including item forecasting where necessary for stock items for which they are responsible. Develops specific annual program goals and supply chain objectives for assigned responsibilities including cost reduction, quality improvement, and customer service improvement. Analyzes supply markets, supplier economics, supply/demand dynamics, and develop TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) programs for assigned commodities. For assigned commodities, drives the use of TCO optimization, i.e., identifying and implementing new low cost suppliers, make versus buy decisions, drive product standardization, logistics enhancements, etc. In conjunction with Supply Chain Manager, develops and implements supply chain programs, policies and procedures. Coordinates and manages all buying and expediting of assigned supplies and services required to support operations.
- Responsibilities:
- Listen to business partner needs, negotiate agreements to meet operational and financial objectives
- Organize and support cross-functional teams to effectively engage suppliers.
- Perform market analysis and complete data gathering to develop/ support procurement decisions and strategies.
- Partner with and influence business teams and build successful relationships.
- Assist business partners as they manage on-going supplier relationships.
- Work with internal subject matter experts (e.g., Operations, Engineering, Legal, Compliance) to create contract structures which maximize returns for current and long-term supplier relationships under supervision.
- Analyze significant, and/or unique contract requirements, special provisions, terms and conditions to ensure compliance with appropriate laws, regulations and corporate policies and procedures.
- Under little to no supervision, understand business needs and requirements so that agreements terms are complete, scalable and cost-effective.

- Participate in Global Supply Chain team development initiatives to improve sourcing experience across AES.
Experience and Qualifications:- Candidate should have a minimum of 2+ years of experience in Supply Chain/Procurement/Sourcing and/or basic knowledge on T&D systems & processes.
- Strong analytical background with ability to build relations and great communication skills.
- Individuals must be able to demonstrate capabilities to adapt to a multi-cultural environment with a highly matrixed organization.
- Proficient level knowledge of Procurement systems and P2P processes, specifically in SAP 4 HANA and Ariba.
- Good problem solving, analysis and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to anticipate customer needs.
- Team builder character.
- Proficient in English language, Spanish language desirable.
- Solid data base management skills (MS Access / Excel)
Education:
Degree in Supply Chain/Procurement/Sourcing or Engineering (preferable Mechanical/Electrical), or technical field from accredited entity.
