JOB SUMMARY
The Data Analytics Analyst provides programming support to applications of the Nuclear Technology Solutions (NTS) Data Analytics team located in Birmingham, Alabama at the Energy Center. This includes working closely with Southern Nuclear Corporation (SNC) business partners to provide data visualizations and reports to support improved decision making. This includes working closely with SNC and other NTS personnel to provide trending, analyses, model and advanced analytics to gain insights into business processes and issues.
Broad technical and business backgrounds, as well as the ability to think strategically and act tactically, are important dimensions for success in this role. Experience in power generation and specifically nuclear power would be advantageous.
Additionally, the Data Analytics Analyst is required to comply with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations. This includes the requirement to successfully pass (>80%) NRC and Southern Nuclear Corporation (SNC) yearly required exams, initial/random Federal Drug Testing program, psychological testing and criminal background investigations to ensure a drug/alcohol free work environment and to ensure employees are trustworthy and reliable.
This job utilizes a hybrid work schedule based. The current hybrid schedule requires the selected individual to physically work from a Southern Nuclear location (The Energy Center, Plants Farley, Hatch, Vogtle 1&2 or Vogtle 3&4) on Wednesdays and as needed/requested on other days. Telecommuting on Wednesdays is only allowed on a case-by-case basis pending Manager approval. Travel is less than 10%.
Ability to work physically from the Energy Center is highly preferred.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering or currently have Bachelors in a non-technical degree with 6 years of experience in Information Technology/Computer Science is preferred. Individuals currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology will be considered.
- Demonstrated technical and programming experience in various languages, Python preferred.
- Fundamental knowledge of how IT adds value to these organizations. Experience in nuclear generation is advantageous.
- Knowledge of SQL, and BI tools and DQ measurement tools SQL
- Responsible for enhancement and modification of PL/SQL scripts, towards production support and maintenance as required, based on application criticality
- Establishes data collections strategies/systems, reporting standards and criteria, and maintains data and reporting integrity.
- Experience with data visualization and presentation
- Demonstrated ability to participate on a highly motivated and results-oriented team; able to develop applications and support effective change management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; strong oral & written communication skills; able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, clients and IT management; ability to make presentations to all levels of employees/management/executives.
- Ability to blend technology with business needs to achieve business improvements.

- Ensure accuracy of data and deliverables of reporting employees with comprehensive policies and processes.
- Manage and optimize processes for data intake, validation, mining and engineering as well as modeling, visualization and communication deliverables.
- Examine, interpret and report results of analytical initiatives to stakeholders in leadership, technology, sales, marketing and product teams.
- Oversee the data/report requests process: tracking requests submitted, prioritization, approval, etc.
- Develop and implement quality controls and departmental standards to ensure quality standards, organizational expectations, and regulatory requirements.
- Anticipate future demands of initiatives related to people, technology, budget and business within your department and design/implement solutions to meet these needs.
- Organize and drive successful completion of data insight initiatives through effective management of analyst and data employees and effective collaboration with stakeholders.
- Communicate results and business impacts of insight initiatives to stakeholders within and outside of the company.
