What will you do in this role?
Trumid is looking for an Analytics and Strategy Guru who is passionate about data, analytics, and business strategy. You will interface between the technical and business sides of the firm, working in a highly collaborative environment with senior business leaders at Trumid and other data professionals to deliver analytical insights that will help guide our company’s growth.
You will lead in delivering data insights and analytics workflows that will help Trumid’s internal users get to data-driven answers quickly. Your expertise in SQL and Python, paired with your business knowledge will allow you to be the point person for demystifying complex datasets and teasing out answers to our thorniest strategy questions.
To succeed in this position, you must have the ability to engage deeply with diverse, talented and senior business partners, develop an in-depth understanding of the organization and key goals, earn trust with leadership, influence without authority, and provide relevant data insights. You must possess excellent analytical skills, project management experience, and a track record of delivering results in a complex and ambiguous environment. You will:
- Perform complex business analysis to help drive organizational decision-making
- Manage and resolve ad hoc data modeling and analysis requests and develop new tools and data pipelines to automate repetitive tasks
- Serve as a subject matter expert for data analysis methods and tools, as well as data visualization best practices
- Develop metrics that will give senior business leaders insight into the performance of their respective teams and the organization as a whole
- Apply a broad range of analytical techniques to identify business-critical trends and insights by exploiting big data
- Use predictive modeling techniques to drive business growth
A bit about our data stack
- Google BigQuery is our central hub for analytical data
- SQL for data transformation and analysis
- Production data comes primarily from Postgres databases or streamed over Kafka topics
- We ingest data from many external sources over FTP, REST APIs, flat files, and other formats
- We manage data using an ELT pattern; the “E” and “L” are primarily handled by Fivetran and the “T” with dbt
- Reports and dashboards are built and shared with the rest of the firm in Looker
- Dataiku is our research environment, housing Python notebooks and machine learning model pipelines
Who will be a successful candidate?
Necessary technical skills:
- Expert-level analytical SQL
- Python for data analysis and visualization (pandas, numpy, matplotlib, Jupyter notebook)
- Looker and/or similar business intelligence and reporting tools (Tableau, PowerBI, etc)
Excel/Google Sheets - dbt and/or similar data transformation tools
- Knowledge of software development tooling and practices like version control, CI/CD, Docker
Qualifications and Experiences:
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM related field or business preferred
- 5-7 years of relevant business analysis experience - relevant experiences may include:
- Management consulting, investment banking or private equity
- Internal consulting or corporate strategy
- Operational role with a heavy analytical focus at a startup
- Product operations at a tech company
- Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills; ability to collaborate and build relationships at all levels to achieve firm wide goals
- High degree of initiative; ability to set priorities and lead initiatives with intellectual curiosity

In compliance with New York City Pay Transparency Law, the base salary range for this role in New York City is between $175,000 - $225,000. This range does not include discretionary bonus or other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with this job. Trumid incorporates several factors when determining a candidate’s compensation.
