Ascend Learning is hiring for an Analytics Architect. Are you interested in joining a team delivering online education backed by data and analytics systems? Our team works with leading edge data technologies such as Snowflake, Azure, Confluent-Kafka, Kafka Streams, Java, Spring, SQL Server, Azure ML Services; just to name few. As an Analytics Architect you will be using these technologies to design solutions to meet real world needs in the education industry. This position will work from one of our Ascend Learning office locations/hybrid: Leawood, Kansas or Burlington, Massachusetts or Gilbert, Arizona or Minneapolis, Minnesota preferred. Remote may be considered.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Business Intelligence, Statistical, Data Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 8 years of Engineering expertise
• 2+ years of experience as an infrastructure or solution architect on large-scale projects and incorporating all levels of architecture development with Cloud Services in GCP, AWS, or Azure
• 1+ years of experience in mathematical programming, data mining, data analytics, business intelligence, statistical analysis, and/or machine learning

Our preferred experience:

• Experience with microservice architectures
• Experience with synchronous communication especially via REST APIs
• Experience with asynchronous communication especially utilizing Avro and Kafka
• Experience in working with relational database systems like SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle etc. is required, with ability to write SQL
• Experience with distributed data acquisition
• Experience with horizontal scaling of systems
• Experience with Java and Linux/Unix
• Experience with self-serve BI Tools like Power BI and Tableau
• Experience with Kubernetes
• Experience with ETL and Streaming Technologies
• Real Cloud Based Data Warehouse experience with large data sets
• Data Privacy and Security experience
• Knowledge of machine learning/distributed system is preferred

• Able to produce clear documentation to convey architecture, development standards, roadmaps, and potential challenges to all both technical and non-technical resources.
• Passion and the ability to learn new things
• Disciplined, dynamic and flexible to manage multiple projects and tasks, work effectively in a rapidly changing environment and meet ongoing and overlapping deadlines
