Under technical direction performs financial and risk modeling analyses for enterprise product lines and investments to be used in the company's economic capital model. Utilizing a strong technical background, the consultant will work with a team to deliver strategic insights to senior management, evaluate reinsurance risk transfer solutions, and implement a capital allocation into operational tools to help the organization optimize decisions against risk.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:

• Performs risk modeling for the purpose of determining enterprise capital requirements and allocating capital to business units and products. Reports findings to Assistant Vice President and other business partners.
• Designs, writes and tests computer programs to extract appropriate data from various databases to populate and parameterize the enterprise capital model.
• Uses industry leading capital modeling software to perform risk modeling analysis for multiple insurance products and balance sheet items.
• Prepares quantitative risk reports that describe the company's risk profile, as well as, special reports for senior management.
• Invests time to learn and develop expertise across the enterprise insurance product suite, risk modeling techniques, finance, and reinsurance.
• Facilitates communication and provides guidance to Enterprise Risk Management, Reinsurance Placement, Actuarial, and/or Finance regarding the model insights and the appropriate uses.
• Helps develop portions of the company Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) report.
• May participate in special projects.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
1. Solid knowledge of core functions of an insurance company, general insurance and statistical, financial, and economic concepts.
2. Solid foundational knowledge in probability and statistics.
3. Experience working with programming languages such as R, Python, SQL, or SAS
4. Demonstrated technical expertise and product specific knowledge.
5. Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to effectively resolve moderately complex situations and issues. Demonstrates attention to detail.
6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.
7. Ability to work independently, as well as in a team, manage time and resources to accomplish multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
8. Good time management with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage work deliverables effectively.
9. Ability to exercise independent judgment and make critical business decisions effectively within scope of authority based on data analyses and reviews.
10. Ability to adapt to change and value diverse opinions and ideas.
11. Ability to fully comprehend business information and to further articulate analysis in internal reports.
12. Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business related software and other company systems.
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent.
2. Typically a minimum of four years of related work experience.
