Job Description

Location and Flexibility

When team members told us they needed more flexibility and autonomy around where and how they worked, we acted, creating two options to accommodate two different styles of work. One non-negotiable principle along the way? We had to retain our deep culture of collaboration, both among ourselves and with our clients.

This role will maintain an in-office presence in a hybrid (Work From Near) capacity. Please indicate which of our available office location(s) you're interested in via the application form below.

Who We Are

WillowTree is an award-winning digital product agency driven by innovation and grounded in strategy and user-centered design. We create long-term partnerships with the world’s leading brands to design and build digital flagship products crucial to their core business. WillowTree is continuing to grow and thrive as the largest independent agency in the US. Some of our clients include HBO, National Geographic, Anheuser-Busch, and PepsiCo.

The Opportunity

Join a collaborative product analytics team with ample opportunities to work on digital products across a variety of industries. As an Analytics Director, reporting to the Senior Director of Analytics & Optimization, you’ll make a direct impact on the success of our teams, clients, and company through craft, mentorship, and leadership. You’ll architect and lead analytics work spanning every step of the product life cycle, from kick-off and understanding business and user needs before we build products, to assuring the products we build provide a useful and seamless experience, to measuring the impact of our products once shipped. This is a unique opportunity to lead and directly influence our analytics practice and product direction without becoming too far removed from the work itself.

After a year in this role, you will have made a significant impact on our analytics practice. You will have managed and mentored both mid-level and senior analytics architects as they learn new skills and deepen their consultative abilities. You will have contributed to and led between 3 to 5 digital product analytics initiatives for some of the worlds’ most recognized brands. You will have worked closely with the Senior Director of Analytics & Optimization and Staff Analytics Architects to shape your team’s standards, processes, and culture.

We understand our responsibility to build a diverse, equitable, and inclusive place within the tech industry, while pushing to make our industry more representative. Because of this responsibility, we need candidates who value diversity and inclusion through their work, team collaboration, or mentorship. So in your cover letter, we encourage you to reflect on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, delegate, and provide oversight for a cross-functional team of product analytics practitioners
  • Provide meaningful team leadership and strategic project guidance across 1 or 2 client projects.
  • Build trust and credibility with clients through empathy and open communication
  • Partner with clients to set measurement and business goals and resolve issues to ensure the users’ best interest
  • Advocate for analytics best practices with our clients and across our company
  • Provide mentorship and management to 2-5 analytics architects (including conducting weekly 1:1s, providing coaching, writing performance reviews).
  • Report to the Senior Director of Analytics & Optimization, advising on staffing decisions, team development, and project scoping.
  • Collaborate with other analytics leaders to influence WillowTree’s service offering, analytics practices and process, and deliverables.
  • Provide internal and external thought leadership that promotes the analytics practice
  • Develop and lead workshops with clients to understand their business goals and translate them into trackable outcomes within products
  • Audit, select, and recommend the best analytics tool stack to suit client needs (e.g. Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Segment, mParticle...)
  • Use storytelling to present complex data in ways that are meaningful and actionable for our clients and teams
  • Stay current on industry trends and the changing trajectory of the practice (tooling innovation, ethical and regulatory developments, etc)

Qualifications
  • 8+ years of professional experience developing and executing analytics strategy and implementation for clients and/or products
  • Experience working in a breadth of analytics tools and platforms, such as Adobe Analytics, Amplitude, Mixpanel, and Google Analytics, and can guide organizations in selecting the ideal tools for their needs
  • You can effectively communicate and present complex data in meaningful and actionable ways to clients and multidisciplinary product teams (e.g. engineers and designers) to guide product-decisions
  • Strong business sensibilities and can effectively identify and translate high-level business objectives to reportable metrics
  • Experience creating analytics tracking specifications for web and/or mobile products that are being used in production
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience managing team members
  • Demonstrated experience working with senior-level clients or stakeholders
  • Ability and desire to mentor, coach, and train team members
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teammates with various levels of experience and diverse areas of expertise
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams

Bonus Points

Experience leading cross-disciplinary teams including product researchers, strategists, designers and/or engineers.

Experience working with marketing teams to implement growth-focused tools or platforms like Marketo, Braze, or Branch.

Experience working with A/B Testing and Optimization teams and tools such as Adobe Target, Google Optimize, Optimizely, or VWO

Even if you don’t have expertise in all of the qualifications listed, we value new perspectives and backgrounds and encourage you to apply. We’re committed to building a diverse company that reflects the diversity of our users. We’re committed to growth-mindset.
