Analytics Engineer

We're looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented, insightful, and experienced analytics engineer with a proven ability to deliver value through analytics.

We are based in Austin, TX, but this position is 100% remote.

What That Means

The primary focus is building our data lake house and analytics layer to provide clean transformed data to support analytics. You may also design, build, and maintain data pipelines to collect, process, and analyze large and complex data sets from various sources using tools like Stitch, FiveTran or Python. Additionally, you'll be maintaining data documentation, communicating results, and collaborating with data team members and other stakeholders.

You are a critical thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimum supervision. Our core stack for this position consists of dbt (data build tool), SQL, Snowflake, Stitch and Airflow.

You possess the following skills and experiences:

• 5-6 years of experience as an Analytics/Data Engineer or Data Warehouse Developer, developing complex data models using dbt, macros, and Jinja or similar.
• BS in a technical or quantitative field
• A solid understanding of dbt to perform data transformation tasks.
• Strong understanding of data design principles and dimensional data modeling
• Experience working with cloud based data lakes and databases (S3, RDS, AWS Athena, AWS Redshift etc.)
• Knowledge of at least one ETL/ data transformation framework/ service (AWS Glue, Data Build Tool (dbt))
• Basic understanding of CI/CD process and systems (Gitlab Pipelines, Github Actions, etc.)
• Version control with Git using branching strategies and feature flags
• Advanced SQL skills and understanding of query optimization strategies in Snowflake.
• Fundamental understanding of DAGs and operators in Airflow
• Solid understanding of basic programming concepts (in Python or similar modern languages).

Preferred, but not required:

• Experience building Tableau visualizations and datasets
• Experience completing "what if" analysis with business stakeholders
