Department Overview

The Motorola Solutions Devices organization designs and develops world class devices and end-to-end solutions for public safety and commercial markets. The organization specializes in utilizing mission critical radio technologies such as ASTRO, TETRA, DMR, and LTE along with cutting edge industry technologies such as Android, Wearables, Indoor location, Connectivity, Software and Cloud services to build complete end to end solutions for our customers.
The Building Blocks department within the Device organization creates reusable and extensible software and hardware building blocks that form technology platforms to decrease design cycle time and development effort across business units and product tiers.
Responsibilities of this organization include proactively identify and deliver technology building blocks and solutions to solve specific challenges we face today. Example: RF ASIC Platforms, Application / Baseband processing, 4G/5G Strategy, Antenna Strategy, Audio Strategy, Android OS Strategy, Indoor Location, Cell Technology and Cybersecurity.
Job Description

Motorola Solutions is at the forefront of research and standards on wireless device RF safety and compliance. Our staff holds leadership roles in standards development committees (IEC, IEEE, CENELEC) and industry associations (Mobile & Wireless Forum), and has published extensively on topics related to RF dosimetry, densitometry, as well as antenna technologies. 

We seek a motivated graduate student to start forming the next generation of Motorola Solutions experts in the mentioned fields. This internship will provide opportunities to develop expertise in theoretical, computational, and experimental dosimetry, product compliance testing, and antenna design and characterization. 

The Motorola Solutions antenna/EME lab features state of the art antenna testing equipment, SAR measurement systems, RF instrumentation, and powerful computational resources and simulation tools to enable tackling complex endeavors, under the supervision of leading researchers in the field.

We seek candidates with a solid theoretical background in math, physics, applied electromagnetics, RF circuit theory, and with good coding skills. 

We value rigor, thoroughness, curiosity and ingenuity, ambition to set high expectations and desire to innovate.

Coursework in electrical circuit theory, electromagnetics, antennas is desirable.

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor's/Master's in Electrical Engineering or Physics
• Must be a US Citizen, permanent resident or be an MS student with work authorization (F1 Visa on CPT accepted only for masters-level students)
