The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) strengthens democracy around the globe through private enterprise and market-oriented reform. CIPE is one of the four core institutes of the National Endowment for Democracy and an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Since 1983, CIPE has worked with business leaders, policymakers, and civil society to build the institutions vital to a democratic society. CIPE’s key program areas include enterprise ecosystems, democratic governance, business advocacy, and anti-corruption & ethics. 

Position: Anti-Corruption Private Sector Engagement Specialist, Armenia
Reports to: Head of Office, Armenia
Scope: CIPE is seeking a full-time Anti-Corruption Private Sector Engagement Specialist position based in Yerevan, Armenia to work on CIPE programming focused on anti-corruption and business integrity. One of the projects the Anti-Corruption Private Sector Engagement Specialist will work on includes an anticipated five-year long engagement on the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) funded project, “Elections and Political Processes Activity in Armenia (EPPA).” The project will be implemented through the Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening (CEPPS). The Anti-Corruption Private Sector Engagement Specialist will also provide local expertise on anti-corruption pertaining to the private sector, conduct local research on corruption challenges affecting the private sector and existing anti-corruption measures, and ensure private sector engagement on these issues for CIPE’s other programming.
Responsibilities:

  • Provide local expertise and technical leadership on anti-corruption and business integrity, transparency, and accountability activities pertaining to the private sector.
  • Provide technical advice to team members on private sector engagement, women’s corporate leadership, and political finance as related to the program activities.
  • Organize and co-facilitate training sessions and awareness raising events on topics including political finance, women’s corporate leadership, and anti-corruption.
  • Coordinate with CIPE grantees, partners, and other stakeholders to ensure the high-quality delivery of specific, private sector-focused activities, including (but not limited to):
    • Partnership with the business associations on political finance training and awareness raising
    • Partnership with the Corporate Governance Center (CGC) to implement the corporate women’s leadership network
    • Partnership with business associations on anti-corruption reform
  • Provide technical assessment of social media and awareness raising materials to ensure high accuracy and relevance of all published materials.
  • Contribute to narrative reports and monitoring and evaluation data in accordance with project and donor requirements.
  • As directed by the Head of Office, Armenia represent CIPE at public events and in meetings with public sector representatives and private sector stakeholders.
  • Monitor current events, including political and economic changes, and U.S. relations in Armenia and assess the impact on ongoing and planned CIPE projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Office, Armenia.
  • Adhere to appropriate CIPE, CEPPS, and USAID policies and procedures.


Qualifications:

  • At least seven years of demonstrated experience in anticorruption/integrity field and private sector development.
  • A Graduate degree in Law, Public Administration, Business Administration, International Development, Public Policy, or related field.
  • Technical expertise in anti-corruption, business integrity, and private sector engagement.
  • Experience in working with government agencies on anti-corruption and business integrity.
  • Experience drafting policy briefs and legislation related to anti-corruption and business integrity.
  • Experience in project management for US or other foreign-funded projects.
  • Knowledge of political and economic dynamics of Armenia.
  • Demonstrated understanding of public-private partnership models, mechanisms, and advocacy.
  • Full professional proficiency in spoken and written English and Armenian.
  • Excellence in writing, reporting, and English composition.
  • Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills and the ability to work independently, and as part of a small team.
  • Strong writing abilities and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple, detail-oriented, tasks simultaneously with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to free market principles and the democratic ideals of freedom, equality, inclusion, participation, prosperity, and growth.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word.
