Our strategic partnership is designed to combine the strengths and expertise of both companies to advance the promise of an immunotherapy in the treatment of multiple myeloma.

Legend Biotech is seeking Antibody/Protein Discovery Platform Head as part of the Research & Early Development team based in Nanjing, China. 

Please note this role is fully based in Nanjing, China and will require onsite presence. 

Key Responsibilities  

• Develop and lead the Antibody/Protein Discovery Platform and work together within the China Research as well as across the business.
• Drive and manage antibody discovery and protein engineering activities to support various internal research projects. 
• Develop and optimize state of the art antibody discovery and protein engineering technologies.
• Design and optimize bispecific antibodies (bsAb) and antibody-fusion proteins.
• Work closely with research CROs to coordinate and manage external efforts.
• Leverage own extensive experience in preclinical drug development to lead and guide team members to advance programs in the discovery pipeline.
• Drive effective decision-making while considering impact to timeline, FTEs/budget, and risks.
• Lead, mentor, and train team members. Provide effective leadership including individual performance goal setting, managing the development of entire team and all individuals, recognize and reward employee contributions, planning and facilitating team activities, responsible for hiring and selecting new personnel and motivating members of the functional area.
• Collaborate with and participate in cross-functional teams to facilitate IIT- and IND-enabling activities.
• Communicate program progress and issues to senior management, to internal governance and approval committee as necessary.

• PhD in Biochemistry or similar field with 5+ years of research experience in antibody discovery and/or protein engineering in an industry setting.
• Experience developing and working with various antibody discovery and protein engineering technologies such as mouse hybridoma, single B cell, phage/yeast/mammalian display, and/or computer-aided antibody/protein design is required.
• Familiar with protein modeling software such as MOE, Schrodinger, and/or Rosetta.
• Experience delivering antibody/bsAb/protein leads that move into clinical studies.
• Being detail-oriented, highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks, handling tight timelines and delivering quality data are required.
• Previous experience with people management is required.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills are required.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment as a team player with a strong work ethic is required.
• Highly adaptable and responsive, and committed to completing tasks in a timely fashion is required.
