Job Summary

The Asset Protection Manager of Investigations and Supply Chain (APMI) will be primarily responsible for creating, implementing, and executing companywide investigation/Organized Retail Crime (ORC) strategies to resolve theft, fraud, and criminal investigations. The APMI will be responsible for companywide initiatives and investigations. The goal of the APMI is to support profitability through investigative initiatives, ongoing training, and driving program focus and accountability. The APMI will lead the supply chain security team and work closely with FC/DC leadership acting as the liaison between stores and supply chain.

Job Functions

  • Lead in identifying and resolving complex ORC investigations and high level internal/external collusion cases, including but not limited to intelligence gathering, trend analysis, internal/external interviews, case presentation and prosecution, asset recovery, court testimony, etc.
  • Lead the fostering of a culture of diversity and inclusion
  • Manage Division/Companywide alerts on ORC activity and collect, organize and clearly communicate relevant information negatively impacting Belk assets, Belk locations, and its employees.
  • Manage and maintain detailed reporting on all ORC investigations and leads, providing updates to AP Director or VP of AP.
  • ORCM will be responsible for cataloging all past ORC investigations and ensure evidence and record retention is followed as outlined by policy and law.
  • Able to lead, develop, and coach Belk personnel as business requires.
  • Professionally represent Belk inside and outside of the company as it relates to Belk within job responsibility.
  • Work as a liaison between law enforcement, partner retailers, and other private entities as needed.
  • Continuously develop external and internal partnerships in order to grow influence and decision making in all business functions. Stay current with new technology and industry changes to bring input and training to senior leadership.
  • Drive innovation in multi and cross system use of current and new equipment.
  • Lead and influence AP and company leadership in all ORC initiatives or trends through factual, timely, and professional communication.
  • Create, maintain, and review company wide exception based and shortage reporting to identify and resolve internal and external trends with an emphasis on ORC activity.
  • Utilize case management system to identify, analyze, and investigate ORC trends and major incidents.
  • Able to utilize open source to develop actionable intelligence to resolve ORC investigations promptly.
  • Lead ORC Captain program through active coaching, intelligence sharing, routine communication cadence, and clearly outlining company objectives.
  • Create & implement physical security measures to prevent ongoing targeting by ORC.
  • Work with DC/FC on resolving major theft incidents as they arise or as needed.
  • Create, implement, and execute ORC best practices and policies to mitigate ongoing losses and jump ahead of emerging trends.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures as outlined in Belk's employee handbook.

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or 5 years of work experience in asset protection
  • 5 years of leadership experience with indirect or direct report responsibility
  • Highly analytical, organized and self-motivated. Works with minimal supervision required
  • Prior ORC investigations experience is a plus

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Experience with technology and ability to learn and teach new tools
  • Experience working closely with senior leadership

Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience using physical security systems (CCTV, EAS, etc.)
  • LPC/LPQ qualification
  • Completion of a certified training program (Wicklander-Zulawski)

Physical

  • Ability to operate standard phone, computer, calculator and other business machines
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to perform some lifting
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds and work at heights
  • Ability to operate photographic and video equipment
