Job Description

Our Provost IT department has an opening for an Applications Administrator. This role will support the development, maintenance, and implementation of software applications. In this role you will deliver administrative support on a defined set of technical initiatives proposed for implementation. This role will help facilitate growth and operational effectiveness, while demonstrating USC values in action.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborates with customers, co-workers, and stakeholders across the organization, including partners, communicating positively and effectively to deliver high-quality application systems and services. Monitors application statuses, and assists with configuration, installation, maintenance, upgrades, and general support. Presents application statuses and proposed solutions to issues based on relevant data.

• Aligns all activities with existing Provost IT and university policies, processes and procedures. Creates and maintains thorough documentation to track configuration settings. Assists with user and group access to applications. Ensures applications’ uptime meets or exceeds defined service-level agreements (SLA). Identifies priorities and present solutions, advocating from the customers’ point-of-view.

• Analyzes problems by performing root cause-analysis exercises, and engages vendor support to leverage expertise. Identifies and recommends strategies for problem resolution and prevention, and critically evaluates the benefits of implementing any proposed temporary workarounds.

• Leverages the latest industry knowledge to facilitate opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement. Proactively experiments with new ideas and approaches, and participates in process innovation efforts. Ensures alignment with standards and best practices for effective troubleshooting and problem-solving.

• Implements affective solutions for managing applications and supporting Provost IT’s vision. Maintains currency with supported applications and architectures, all updates, and relevant existing, developing, and disruptive technologies. Develops and maintains knowledge base articles, tutorials, and training resources.

• Aids the cultivation of an inclusive environment and a culture of trust and transparency. Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with diverse groups of team members, peers, and leaders, sharing data broadly, openly, and deliberately. Actively embodies USC values and behaviors (e.g., accountability, ethics, best-in-class customer service).

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree

• Preferred Experience: 4 years

• Preferred Field of Expertise: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, information technology, or relevant field. Experience in IT, higher education, or other relevant fields.

• Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree. Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.

• Minimum Experience: 2 years

• Minimum Field of Expertise: Experience in design, architecture, and implementation of SaaS and on-premise software applications. Knowledge of and ability to adhere to SDLC methodology, and experience with web-based, multi-layered enterprise applications. Experience with issue tracking, ticketing systems, and vendor management, particularly for issue escalation and troubleshooting systems, and knowledge of frameworks, and networking and security concepts. Ability to understand and work with large, complex IT systems, and experience contributing to and managing development policies and procedures. Demonstrated experience working in a project-based environment with planning and execution skills, perseverance, drive and keen attention to detail. Excellent written and oral communication skills, presenting both detailed information and high-level summaries to key stakeholders. Ability to develop positive working relationships and strong rapport with team members and stakeholders.

Salary Range: The annual base salary range for this position is $109,137.91 - $125,000.00  . When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Salesforce administration (setup users, objects, sandboxes). Be able to create tabs, layouts, develop and test flows, reports and dashboards. Experience with FormAssembly and integration with Salesforce. Good understanding of the EDA Model. Experience with Scrum and User stories.
