Job Summary
The Application Architect provides architectural leadership on multiple, complex projects and business technologies. This role will develop and promote technical roadmaps to modernize, enhance, and support the application set of their business partners. This role will participate in F&G’s Architecture Review Board (ARB) sessions and presents solution designs to the ARB for approval. In addition, this role will strategize with business and technology stakeholders to define future-state capabilities and requirements, and translate into transitional and target state architectures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Own and be responsible for a cohesive technology landscape for multiple business domains, within the framework of our Corporate Solutions scope.
- Is engaged at all levels of the SDLC to oversee and guide technology processes and implementation of solutions
- Provide architectural leadership on multiple, complex projects and business technologies
- Strategize with business and technology stakeholders to define future-state capabilities and requirements, and translate into transitional and target state architectures
- Develop and promote technical roadmaps to modernize, enhance, and support the application set of the Corporate Solutions’ business partners
- Research current and emerging technology, engaging with other architects to innovate in a risk appropriate manner to accelerate corporate growth
- Provide support to management on build vs buy decisions
- Lead the technical architecture across Corporate Solutions application services and systems ensuring quality, timeliness, alignment to business, and security requirements.
- Develop and implement future-state application architecture, standard processes, web services and API patterns, best practices, and methods used to advance IT and business strategy
- Actively participate in the Architecture Review Board (ARB) sessions to ensure sound solutions
- Review and own technical deliverables from resources assigned to other F&G teams
- Contribute to strategic roadmap and technical direction of integration and application development, including DevOps, application security, tools, and solutions architectures with peer solution development teams
- Communicate all architecture and technical decisions, issues and risks to IT Leadership and manage technical dependencies within or external to service delivery
- Perform gap analysis and explain and document the architecture and / or other technical changes required, as well as associated benefits, to a diverse group of stakeholders
- Work with other architects to create and maintain architecture policy, standards, and guiding principles and ensure alignment
- Contribute to designing systems and solutions in alignment with company vision while creating a bridge between technology and business teams
- Contribute to and executes on technical roadmaps to modernize, enhance, and support the Corporate Solutions and enterprise systems
- Mentor and coach others and provide input on performance evaluations
Experience and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or similar
- 5+ years of experience leading technology development teams
- Strong knowledge of API concepts, and working knowledge of one or more API integration platforms
- Understanding of secure system design principles, patterns, and practices
- Excellent coding and analytical skills
- Experience with a cloud or hybrid platforms such as Azure and AWS
- Strong capabilities in XML, JSON, CSV, or similar file formats
- Ability to effectively operate in support of a complex ecosystem of diverse technology platforms managed by internal resources and vendor partners
- Strong capabilities in analyzing commercial software, integration architecture, governance, and cloud-based ecosystems
- Experience with application and integration tools such as Informatica, Boomi, Mulesoft, Microsoft, API Gateway, TFS, Git, Python, .Net, Java or similar
Preferred Requirements
- MBA, Master of Computer Science, or similar
- Experience in a multi-vendor, TPA environment with multi-day feeds and complex integrations
- Experience with Life/Annuity insurance systems and operations
- Strong project management skills
- Experience with event-driven architecture concepts (messaging, business events, etc.)
- Experience with collaboration platforms such as Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Atlassian Confluence

- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities, assign appropriate resources, ensure quality, and maintain high standards
